.. to make a cut on the pga? What happens when she makes that cut. Will she play in both leagues?
Her intention is to get a pga tour card, and also play some lpga events. Whether she does it is not the issue, I'll support her attempts.
For the record, I think she can do it.
I hope Duval wins.....I guess the thing with Wie was like the Annika thing. They both go find short course that they have a chance to make a cut...it is a gimmick thing. They are not on the PGA tour day in and day out trying to makes cuts and make a living. Soon this is going to wear thin and nobody will care if she does not makes a cut or not. Wie will be know for her domination of the LPGA which I am sure will come with in the next 10 years.

Rodney as you probably know I am a big fan of Ryan Moore's as you are with MW. We are both struggling with our picks but I'm sure one day we will be proud.
I hope Duval wins too. It's nice to see him back and playing well again.
It is kinda interesting to follow Wie and see how she stacks up.. although I don't see her having much success until she gets a little older. 16 is awful young for anyone on the pga tour. I guess the one down side to this is that she bumps someone else out of the field who may be struggling to keep their card.

It's been said here quite often that Sponsor's Exemptions generally don't go to struggling PGA Tour players, they go to individuals the sponsor's believe will increase interest in the tournament.
But that is hard to confirm because as far as I know there is no visibility of who the sponsor's exemption are, especially in previous years. If John Deere is allotted four Sponsor's Exemptions, I'd like to know who they are, especially in the years before Wie started accepting them. That would tell us.
At the Sony Invitational, I think that Wie's sponsor's exemption would previously have gone to a professional Japanese Tour golfer of some note. In that case, it's Sony taking care of their countrymen, not increasing interest in the tournament itself.
I'd rather see Wie than some strugging tour pro I don't know and would never see on tv anyway.
We're not talking about a struggling tour pro. It could likely go to some other young players who need that break to get in. Keep in mind that w/out a few exemptions, we would have never seen Ben Curtis win the British Open.

How about the Lumber Classic at 7,500 yards. I guess that's just a pitch and putt course for Wie.
For Wie's exemptions, she accepted the Sony because she is a local girl.
She accepted the John Deere, because she asked to be let in the lpga event in 2005 for that week, but they refused her, so she accepted the John Deere invitation instead.
Her exemptions are not related to course length, and more to schedule issues.

You might want to ask Lefty, ColorBlindChameleon, JungleJim and a few of our other across the pond posters about that one.
