Well, whatever some of these people may think of him, he's ****a nice guy, and I'm glad to see him have the success he's had so far. As for Rodney and that old guy, it's pretty easy to sit in your easy chair and be critical, but on the courses these guys play the two of you couldn't get w/in 20 strokes of him.

I was thrilled for Ben Curtis and rooted for him vociferously. 20 strokes? I'll take that bet any day.

Well, 20 strokes may be a bit much, but I was just trying to make a point.
I love it when a no-namer wins a tourney. I like tiger, vijay, and phil, but I also get tired of seeing them win all the time. It would've been nice to see Wie do well, but it's just too early in her career to expect that much from her.
Well Curtis validated his Open win a couple of weeks ago and is now the only under-30, US-born multiple winner, I believe. He could have a fine career yet.
Rodney as you probably know I am a big fan of Ryan Moore's as you are with MW. We are both struggling with our picks but I'm sure one day we will be proud.
Any player who qualifies for the pga tour, through the route Ryan did, has to be a pretty special player.
Alot of people were critical of him earlier, but his Buick performance should spur him on.
How about the Lumber Classic at 7,500 yards. I guess that's just a pitch and putt course for Wie.
For Wie's exemptions, she accepted the Sony because she is a local girl.
She accepted the John Deere, because she asked to be let in the lpga event in 2005 for that week, but they refused her, so she accepted the John Deere invitation instead.
Her exemptions are not related to course length, and more to schedule issues.
Ok I will buy that but still if she keeps trying and not make at cut.....first what is the point?......next people will stop caring....third she still has not won on the LGPA yet. It is a gimmicky thing. The best that the LPGA has ever had to offer missed the cut. So now Wie can do it and not still has not won on the LPGA yet. My point is that put first things first. I think that she will lose creditability as long as she tries to play on the PGA and not win on the LPGA.
I used to play against Ben in high school, so I guess I'm a little biased in that respect. I also used to play against Steve Gangluff who did well in the U.S. Open. I'm hoping he'll be able to break onto the tour sometime as well.

Too many repeats of yesterday's performance and people will lose interest in a hurry, but I think it's more than a gimmick. Even Annika has said that she learned a great deal from playing with the guys.

If she misses alot of cut, yes the interest will go down. If she makes a couple of cuts, people will wonder how high can she place.
To be honest, I think it would be useful for her to play on the Nationwide and more on tours like the asian and japanese tour, maybe some lower european events to gain more experience.
But if she did that, unless she did extremely well, would the pga sponsors give her more chances? That's a difficult situation and choice.
I think unless her pga performances improve dramatically, she could keep the exemption numbers very low. 2 or 3 is plenty, and try to learn more on other tours. When she finishes school, maybe she should go play 5 or 6 events running on the Asian Tour, that would be great experience.

What is the point? She can play on the lpga which is a great tour and has a LOT more following than the Asian.. and probably even the Nationwide.

As a stepping stone to her goal, which is the pga tour.
The lpga is not a good stepping stone, because the courses are too short, and the course setups just are very different. At least on mens courses, she'll be getting used to the length, and not just getting proficient with short woods like she would on the lpga tour.

Your right but Tiger played in Asia and he learned something from it. IMO Wie needs to focus on one thing at a time.....for now her putting. The LPGA is her tour to win. There is no reason she can not be the best in the world in a few years on the LPGA but any mens tour right now is just a distraction. The women on the LPGA are getting better and better each year and if Wie does not focus she may never win. Again JMO.
Until Wie wins and wins regularly on the LPGA, comments about the courses being too short and being set-up differently are excuses. To compete on the PGA Tour any player must have the skills to play the course that's in front of them.
I didn't say the courses at the lpga were disadvantaging her due to being too short. What I stated was that if she wants to be a pga tour pro, as she does, she shouldn't let herself get accustomed exclusively to the lpga tour courses which are short and which don't require as many shots.
She should keep entering mens events, so that she keeps improving the parts of her game that are needed on mens courses. Those attempts don't have to be on the pga tour. They could be on one of the other 5 major mens tours.
