Well, now that I got to watch Golf Central it did appear to be genuine health issues. But, she still took a spot from some guy who is probably sleeping in his car right now from putting food in his stomach, so she has no sympathy from me.
Actually, it is a widely known fact that sponsors exemptions do not go to the type of guys you mentioned. They do not go to the next guy on the list.
They just go to whoever the sponsor wants to give them to, and the sponsors do not pick the most deserving, they pick whoever is best for them.
I didn't get to watch it. I had it taping and will watch it later. I just went by a tv at one stage, and she was sitting on a golf bag and in obvious discomfort. I checked the net and they said she had been struggling for about 4 holes.
It really does amaze me though, how some guys below have joined the forum to make accusations of faking.
The girl could shoot 82 and she still wouldn't quit, as has happened.
Hopefully the guys who joined GR to express their opinions will have a short membership.
***BREAKING NEWS***
New York and Ireland (AP) - mr3856a and Rodney_C agree on an issue relating to Michelle Wie.
I was actually pretty concerned for her for a bit there, as I would be for anyone who said they had throat pain and was clearly having a difficult time breathing. You could hear how shallow and labored her breathing was with the on-course microphones. I was seriously waiting for her to fall right over.
Anyway, I also think it's a shame for people to be making comments about her faking it, etc. If you saw it, it was incredibly obvious that she wasn't faking anything.

i don't think she was faking it (you probably meant the other fella's anyway), but i find it fairly obvious that it was her head telling her it was worse than it probably was and with that she started to feel a lot worse.

I'm glad that someone who isn't Michelle's most fanatical supporter has said that. That means it's definitely true.
If people want to critisise Michelle's career, fine, but it's not funny when someone is the in the state that you described.

I knew you would respond with that, but It still remains. I would say Nike has a large role in getting their million dollar girl out in the limelight too. I could care less about her. She does not impress me. And Nike is a garbage product too....
i did'ny see it, but she loves golf too much to fake it. us here in florida and surrounding states, all know what heat exaustion can do, and it comes on quick. had a mild case a week ago, and i was riding a cart.
Watching her in the first round, she was not playing her normal game.
Brian Barnes was talking on The Golf Channel UK saying that her swing looked static.
She may have pulled a Stomach Muscle trying to catch up with her partners driving distance.
What a bunch of sissies. They need to throw their clubs away and take up indoor shuffleboard...or bingo.
Exactly, I'm in my mid 40's and walk the course in July and August in Dallas, Texas where the afternoon temps often hit 100 degrees. These guys are just in really poor physical condition.

But, she still took a spot from some guy who is probably sleeping in his car right now from putting food in his stomach, so she has no sympathy from me. Also, when was the last time we've seen a guy on the tour end like this? When we put two and two together it looks fishy.
Playing golf in immense heat is not hard. I went 18 yesterday in the wicked Minnesota humidity, and it was a sinch. Come on now...they don't even carry their bags...
Minnesota humidity? Please...
If that guy is sleeping in his car he isn't good enough to play on the PGA tour either...I am sick of the argument that exemptions are taking spots away from more deserving players...that's the game and if you are on the bubble that is how it goes...it is entertainment and I am entertained by seeing her try to make it in PGA events...I hope she continues in the future and at some point plays on the tour full time...

I wish her well, but still think she needs to win some LPGA events before trying to make a US cut-and besides, it's a weak field, she should try to make the cut on a bigger event...I agree that the "taking a spot from another" is a weak argument...
Another point is that it sounds like she had period pain-I didn't see any mention of it on the bland PCish US news websites, and you guys are continuing the heat exhaustion line. Come on, stomach pain and walking slowly......She's from Hawaii and complains of the heat? Possibly, unfortunately, that time of the month-and probably both days-yesterday more mental, today more physical.
Hope she toughens up over the years, and becomes a real star.

Until you've walked in their shoes you shouldn't call them sissies. I'm sure if they could play in shorts, ride in a cart and only play once a week instead of walking 5 or 6 days a week they'd be as good as you. Simp

See my post above. You're in the same boat as the other guy! Simp
