In a R.I. amatuer back in the fifties, clearly the best golfer in it had to retire after 11 holes and 1 up, from heat prostration ( He had won it a couple times before ). I was amazed this could happen to him but some people can take the heat and some can't. Michele complained about the heat in her post round interview Thursday. It seems she is one of those that can't take the heat.
She has handled the heat fine, on many occasions before.
Nearly ever golfer goes through what she went through at some stage.
Lee Westwood went through the same thing on one occasion, and he was surprised because he had been through hotter tournaments on several occasions.
I am still trying to figure out how this can happen to a 16 year old, who has personal trainers and coaches to keep her in peak shape, on a golf course where there is drinking water available on every tee. The heat index was only 94.
Is there a doctor in the house that can tell me why she was treated and released at the hospital for "heat exhaustion". Isn't that usually an overnight stay when the patient arrives in an ambulance???
I think she was sick, but I am guessing not from what was reported. I am not accusing her of faking, but no one knows what was truly wrong except her team and the doctors, and the doctors can't talk.
It's apparently Illinois state law that if you are taken to a medical station or treated by EMT's for heat exhaustion that you are required to go to the hospital.
The other thing is - and someone else remarked about this - my mother, who is a doctor, said that the breathing issue was probably anxiety.
The poor kid definitely looked in rough shape for a bit there - I was seriously concerned about her that last hole.
The fact that you have to ask why someone is sympathetic towards a 16 year old girl who just had heat exhaustion really saddens me.
you don't know the story mate, if you knew the full story about Wie and Rodney you might even be asking. its nothing to do with this post, as i was feeling a bit sorry for her aswell.

(She has handled the heat fine, on many occasions before.) Rodney Why then on Thursday with an early tee time did she complain?
She has played quite a few rounds of golf, and plenty of them have been in very hot conditions.
I know plenty of people who were great in the heat, and then had one or two times they suffered, and then were great in the heat again thereafter.
I just would like to know what he sees in her to defend her no matter what, not even only on this issue.
I've explained it in detail before, but I'll summarise.
I have had dealings with some of the finest professionals in the game. I have not witnessed another player who has Wie's golfing skills at her age. Everything else stems from there.
Add in the amount of unwarranted and unthoughout critisism she receives and my own passion for debate, and you have a recipe for plenty of golf rewind Wie threads.
As regards the Golf Rewind forums, it is much easier to deal with things here. There are forums at the golf channel which are layed out in a complete mess for starters, and occupied by people, many of whom probably cannot count to 10. Then you have Wie dedicated forums, where everything about Michelle, such as what she had for breakfast is discussed, and that just doesn't particularly interest me. Golf Rewind is the most centred forum.

Until you've walked in their shoes you shouldn't call them sissies. I'm sure if they could play in shorts, ride in a cart and only play once a week instead of walking 5 or 6 days a week they'd be as good as you. Simp
My reply was more of sarcasm to some of the "newer" members' comments that men would never quit because of heat exhaustion.
I have found a few instances where men in high profile tournaments have withdrawn due to heat exhaustion, but they don't care and would rather bash Michelle.
I played in a tournament two years ago, and by the ninth hole, i was feeling just about dead. I walked down 10 fairway, and knew I couldn't finish.
Went to the emergency room, after I got home and was vomiting with blood in it, and they kept me overnight and gave me fluids. They could barely take my blood, I was so dehydrated. That was causing most of the problems.
I lost my strength from the whole episode, and stayed in bed/in the house for a week. The nurses said they had never had that much difficulty drawing blood, that's how dehydrated I was.
My point is, she probably wasn't faking. Probably dehydrated.
the weather is just so hot.. im in florida right now.. tomorrow the temperature is 100, monday 101, and tuesday up to 105.. you really need to stay hydrated with how hot it is out
