update said she was doing fine today....high sprits.
All the people here talking about real heat exhaustion say they were still messed up the next day.
There is a difference between fine, and being back to normal.
If she is laying down resting most of the time resting, they would still say she is fine.
She probably won't be running around the place for a few days, but should be fine in time for the Evian Masters.
In any case, as other people have said, she got ill, had to withdraw from the tournament. Anyone who watched it should know that, so it doesn't particularly matter what the cause is.
ok. Let's clean it up in here. I just deleted a number of posts and a few members will follow if they cannot follow the board rules and guidelines. Most of you know them. If not, please read them and let's try to carry on in a civil manner. Thanks.

I am still trying to figure out how this can happen to a 16 year old, who has personal trainers and coaches to keep her in peak shape, on a golf course where there is drinking water available on every tee. The heat index was only 94.
(As mentioned in another thread.)
Ask NFL'ers Korey Stringer and Thomas Herrion about their struggles with heat-related illnesses while being surrounded by some of the best athletic trainers and gallons of free Gatorade. Oh wait, you can't; they're dead.
You can get heat exhaustion from running a marathon, running a mile, or taking a long, leisurely hike. Even if you drink some water, it may not be enough. While it was "only 94", that part of the country is incredibly humid, which prevents your body sweat from evaporating as fast as you need it to. The converse is what I experience here. The air is bone dry (I've seen it as low as 4% on a very hot day), so the moisutre is sucked out of your body at a much quicker rate. The less water in your body, the less there is for sweating.

I don't like the argument about the nfl players......I think we can all agree those guys who are over 300 lbs with pads on and at nfl training camp are working 30 times harder then anybody playing golf.. Let alone someone not even carring their own bag.
I find it rather remarkable that some posters here think that because they didn't have a problem under similar conditions or because no one else had a problem the day Michelle did, that suggests that she was faking it. I think the point that pseudoswede made about Korey Stringer and Thomas Herrion was spot on. He's not comparing the rigors of an NFL camp to golf , simply pointing out that no one else had heat stroke nor died the days those 2 went down. Everyone is different and reacts differently to the heat. Why is this so hard for some to understand ?
Waz, do you truly believe if wie was at -2 or -3 she still would of with drew after 9 on friday ? I have not been to hawaii, but I would imagine it to be pretty hot out there. She plays a lot of golf the entire year and in some bad conditions. No other reports about her having heat related illness in her past. She is physically fit. She was only carring her self, no extra weight of a bag. It was the same as a stroll through the park since she was walking so slow. I have seen this theory some other place and here, but the more I think about it the more I agree it was a panic attack. That is why it is so hard for me to believe she had a heat illness.
Open to other point of views, I won't get angry I like to debate

Hawaii doesn't get that hot. 80 degrees Fahrenheit highs year around. The climate is tempered by the fact that is is surrounded by the ocean. For the same reason, Iceland isn't as cold as people think!

very interesting, I just did a look up on weather.com and it list the same temperature for the next 10 days....85 high 76 low humidity in the 70% range. I knew about the iceland thing, iceland is green and greenland is cold

Fair enough. First off, Hawaii has a beautiful climate with very few extremes in temperatures or humidity. Temps in the 90s and high humidity are very unusual there due to its location. I looked it up. You may want to do the same before pulling any more assumptions out of ....um thin air. Second, physical fitness is only loosely related to heat-related problems... again you can look it up. Third, she wasn't playing that poorly, why would she pick this time to bail out? Fourth, a few non-Michelle fans have reported that she looked like she was having physical problems long before she withdrew. What do you base your opinions on other than your suspicions ?
She knew she wasn't going to come close to the cut, she was playing better but not good enough. At #9 she would of had to birdie every hole coming in to even have a chance of making the cut. she was claiming every thing in the book hurt. Hips, wrist, stomach, ribs It may not be correct, buy my opinion is she faked it and should get a chance in some movies pretty soon with the acting job. her playing partners wanted her to quit sooner, not because of illness, but because she was a slow poke on both days. The one guy who did not make the cut at +1 was going to walk right past her when she quit at #9 but she stopped him, clearly you could tell he had enough of wie for a lifetime.
it wasn't faked, i think that that time of the month came and add in the heat, did her in. any of you that have wives and girl freinds knows that this time of the month for them can make life very miserable for them. mother nature for women can be very cruel at times. unless you were in her shoes, give her a break.
What ever happened to a parents love for his/her daughter? at the age of 16 and with all the pressure the media and golf world (sponsors and tournament organizers) put on her you would think that Wie would be better cared for by her mother and father or at least another family member, I find the whole situation totally disgusting!!!!
Waz, do you truly believe if wie was at -2 or -3 she still would of with drew after 9 on friday ?
Absolutely, she definetely would have still withdrew. I wonder if you actually watched the tournament. From what you say, I can only assume that you did not watch any of the coverage.

Have you had any experience with panic attacks, or are you just talking off the cuff. I can absolutely 100% definetely tell you that it was not a panic attack. You'll just have to trust me on that.
