America v Korean Players on the lpga

First 4th round, not long in progress:

1 Mi Hyun Kim 2 -13 Korea
T2 Paula Creamer 3 -12 USA
T2 Natalie Gulbis 2 -12 USA
T2 Se Ri Pak 2 -12 Korea
T5 Young Jo 3 -11 Korea
T5 Reilley Rankin 3 -11 USA

I back a Korean player to come out as the winner.
It's nice that Guilbis and particularly Creamer have got their acts together and are really competing for the title.
It is a very good strength tournament as well.

Gulbis is leading again.

It is a winning lead. Does anyone know if she has been in that position before? 12 holes for her to play, so there is plenty of opportunity for her to fall back, and of course there are a few girls who could go on a charge also.

Watch out for Mi Hyun Kim.
She will probably win it.

What's with the obsession with Asians on this board? 'Rodney C'-are you ABC? Michelle Wie (Korean), and all the other Koreans. Wouldn't it be positive to have more focus on homegrown American talent?

I don't believe either Geeza or Rodney C are homegrown Americans...the world is bigger than the US though difficult to recognize when living there...the focus on the Koreans on this or any board is due to their domination of the LPGA, nothing less...

you may have a point, but tournament Golf isn't a team/country sport. it doesn't matter the nationality to me except for the Ryder Cup etc... but i have no obsession with Asian's myself, favourite LPGA Golfers are Gulbis, Sorenstam and Pressel. Im from England and love to watch a young international talent as much as i do, a young English talent.

Well, I'm obviously ( ) a Kiwi so I'm not at all obsessed with America-but this board does seem to be based there which is why I posted. An international flavour is important. I watch the Euro tour on the bbc.co.uk. I based my swing on Faldo's, and have always liked Montgomerie, Duval, Tiger, and Couples. And MC.

I'm not anti any race, but feel we have to be honest about this-and was posting to learn more about the board. One other question I have is that the PGA does a lot of laudable Charity work-I hope the LPGA does too, and especially those overseas golfers (including Sorenstan and many bland Koreans female golfers). Giving to, not just taking from, the US is important.

Thanks Bigvivec.

I don't know where you're from kiwi, but Michelle Wie was born and raised in Hawaii, which has been part of America for nearly 50 years. She is "homegrown American talent".

Perhaps the use of Google or a quick glance at www.lpga.com will answer your questions about charity work done by the LPGA and its players.

Firstly, I just made a simple prediction that Mi Hyun Kim would win. I didn't say I wanted anyone to win. It was a simple prediction, based on the players in contention, and I got it correct, which is pretty good considering Guilbis was 3 clear when I backed Mi Hyun Kim.

Secondly, Michelle Wie is an American player. Since she is my favourite female player, that would suggest that I do indeed "have more focus on homegrown American talent"

In reality, I don't care where the players are from, although I do like several American players.

Yes, thank you for replying and sorry for mentioning Michelle, that was sloppy. I support her actually, and she's cool and completely homegrown, and a promising kid. That diluted my point.

I was not clear: I've seen several threads raving about all some of the Koreans-and I guess I'd like to see some threads discussing all the other cute golfers. There's more, but I don't need to belabour the point.

Isn't there one more major? Hope MW wins it.

I agree there are plenty of cute American golfers. Lincicome is a real "find".
I really only started this thread because I thought the leaderboard looked really interesting with 3 Americans and 3 Koreans, given all the talk about the young American talent.

Yes the British Womens Open.
I would have said Wie was the most likely American winner, but with the way both Guilbis and Creamer played, I think they are ready to possibly take a major soon, not to mention the slightly less cute Juli Inkster.
Morgan Pressel has been a real disappointment, but one of these tournaments, it will probably all just click into place for her.
If Annika is on form, they can all whistle for it though.
