The third hole

... which actually is the first hole of Royal Liverpool but was changed in order for this Open. Supposedly this is the most dangerous because of the possibility of OB on both the tee shot and the approach.

It seems that Mark Hensby discovered the "trick" of the third hole, because he took 7 strokes while making 2 putts. So the other 5 strokes were ???
I did not follow what happened but there must have been an OB in there somewhere if it took 5 strokes to get on the green.

Having a potential "blowup" hole early in the round doesn't much change the overall strategy (Hensby has birdied the next two holes and is back to 1-over) but any hole that's got some "bite" is interesting to watch.

Check this hole out...Out-of-bounds all along the right side. The hole is a sharp dog-leg right around the practice grounds (hence, the out-of-bounds.) O.B. runs all the way to the green. You can see a flyby of it or any of the holes, for that matter, by going to http://www.opengolf.com/course/default.sps
