For those guys just waking up, tiger just shot -7 in the 2nd round and most of the hopefuls to win are 8,9 back. I heard the announcer say the early projected cut is about -2. How must it feel starting your round 10 back to Woods, the best player with a big lead. Although Goosen is still out there hes only 4 back with a couple left to play.

Goosen, after putting well all day, just had a 3-putt bogey at 17. So he drops back to -7, but he'll probably birdie 18 and finish -8. Birdies and eagles are available on this course, so I don't think the guys well back of Tiger just starting their rounds should worry too much about how far back they are. They can easily go out and shoot -5 or better.
LOL. I sure hope you're right, but I've gotta say that some of y'all are a little too quick to say that sort of thing. It looked over last year and Tiger struggled pretty badly on Saturday, but still made a crucial par save at 17 and then birdie at 18 to keep his lead going into the final round. On a course that is ripe for scoring, you can never say that it's simply over even if Tiger is the best front-runner ever. As long as his short game (particularly his putting) keeps going well, I would tend to agree. However, his putting and short game overall hasn't been that great this year. He's been basically flawless so far through 2 rounds, but I guess I'm just less confident in that continuing than some of y'all are.
Good to see Goosen and DiMarco playing well. Although they prolly won't win, this is a big boost for these two guys who have been slumping lately. Same goes for Ernie and Sergio who are playing very well.
I think alot of his success is due to Tiger leaving the driver in the bag. He has hit 23/28 fairways (82%) and as a result is having more scoring opportunities.

Fairway to Green there is no one better than Tiger, period.

He's also leaving himself well over 200 yards out on some of the par 4's (240 out at 17 both days). I don't consider 200+ yard shots into the wind a good scoring opportunity. He's doing what he should do: he's dominating the par 5's in general and making some putts on the par 4's. But I completely agree that by not hitting driver, he's avoiding TROUBLE. Avoiding trouble is different from having great scoring opportunities. He's playing quite conservatively compared to other players, but picking his spots to be aggressive. He simply had a great gameplan for sure.
Tiger can shoot 2 69's and win by 5... and people were doubting him, I bet his dads got a big smile on his face
Sergio is without doubt having the hottest putting tournament he's had in a very long time (possibly ever). He's now -7 through 7 holes. He's got 3 par 5's left. He'll get to at least -10.

He is NOT 200 yards out on every par 4. He is 4 under on the par 4's so he must be having some scoring opportunities. He has had 1 eagle, 4 birdies and 2 bogies on the par 4's. On the par 5's he has had 1 eagle and 4 birdies. With that said, keep the driver in the bag and continue keeping the ball in play.

Read what I said. Reading comprehension is a GOOD thing. I said that he was leaving himself over 200 yards out on SOME of the par 4's. And that eagle came from 205 yards out. I wouldn't consider that a really good scoring opportunity, just a perfect shot and a lucky bounce.
Say what you want, the proof is in the pudding. He is keeping the ball in the fairway and he is scoring. With the right amount of practice you too will be able to score from 200 yards out.

Oh I do fine from 200 yards out. I've pretty much mastered hitting my 3-wood from 200-230 yards out. I hit my 3-iron about 190, but the course I play from the tips has some really long par 4's (480 into the wind, 465 into the wind, 500 into the wind, etc.). I'm quite used to playing from 200+ yards out, but I wouldn't consider it a birdie opportunity, even for Tiger as good as he is.
I know what you mean about the Texas wind. I was stationed in Wichita Falls and San Antonio and the wind can really blow. If you are down wind it's not unusual to hit a drive upwards to 400 yards, but if you're into the wind.....watch out. It will be interesting to see if Tiger keeps the same strategy if the wind starts blowing.
