Ernie is only two back with a par 5 to go. He should be in the final pairing come tomorrow. Tiger is in great shape, and if he continues to eschew the driver, he'll be right in it come Sunday.

Well, well, Mr. Els is looking fantastic at this point. 30 greens hit in 2 days - that's getting it done.

I guess they say Saturday is moving day for a reason, but at this point, I'd say people 5 back of Tiger are really stretching at this point to contend. Say what you want about DiMarco, too, but he's proven he can hold up under pressure.

We could be looking at the Goose, Tig, Ernie and DiMarco hogging the airwaves this weekend.

I can never get the order straight - if Ernie and DiMarco are tied at end of play, who plays with Tiger? Is it first in or last in?
First in, last out. Chris Dimarco would be in the final pairing with Tiger.

One thing I've learned about golf is that it's not over till the Sunday round is in the record books (Or sometimes, Monday.) I am rooting for Tiger and hope he takes this one home, but I'm not counting the money yet and I feel sure Tiger isn't either. Anything can happen on a golf course (and usually does). That's why they make them play it out instead of penciling in the winner a week in advance. I will say this, Tiger looks more focused than I've seen him look in years.

As I said earlier, if Ernie could get to -10 he would have a chance.

Well he got to -10 with 2 holes to play in the 2nd round.

If Ernie Els could face down Tiger and win the tournament, it would be one of the best things that could happen in golf.

That's nothing against Tiger, but it would be nice if one of the big names could throw down a challenge to Tiger, because it is far too infrequently that it happens.

You couldn't ask for anything better with this leaderboard. Even though it's lacking Vijay and Phil, you still got Tiger, Ernie, Retief, DiMarco and Scott all up on the leaderboard. The only thing taking the fun out of this is that the course it too easy. This isn't a challenge, but still, it's good to see the world's best all on the front page.

Els is the only one of those guys who can beat Tiger unless we see a 2002-type Saturday weather and it just turns nuts. Goose is too far back and Tiger knows he's got DiMarco's number. Furyk is the only other guy within 8 shots who even knows how to win big tournaments, and he's way too far back.

So hopefully we will see an Ernie-Tiger duel for the ages. It's about time both of them were truly "back".

Ernie birdies 18 to finish at -11, one shot back of Tiger. Throw in Dimarco 3 behind and Retief, Jiminez and Scott in the positions behind him, and we have a pretty compelling leaderboard going to the weekend.

I am a HUGE tiger fan, but els, dimarco and goosen are all in and within 4 strokes, its definately not over. Weather conditions will come in to play in this Open before its over, still havent had the typical rain and high wind mix.

Oh it's definitely not over considering Els is just 1 back and Goosen and DiMarco have good track records with Tiger. They've proven they don't back down from him. Should be interesting.

I think another thing that will come in to play is the time of day the leaders will have to play their rounds, it seems as tho for the most part that the afternoon groups arent scoring as well, altho tiger played well yesterday afternoon.

Well I said last week that it was his to lose. He's the horse for this course, especially under these conditions. He can leave the woods in the bag and his putter is back. Els, Goose and DiMarco are all within range. I think at least 1 or 2 of them will hang with Tiger at least for awhile. I hope we get at least 1 day of real Open weather before it's over.

The way Tiger is playing, I don't see anyone catching him. Especially if the course gets tougher.
