if you are really serious and think tiger will collapse, then why is it you think it would be between DiMarco and Els? although i think your joking anyway.

As much as I hate to say it, I guess Tiger is the favorite. He doesn't have to hit driver at all there and that seems to be his weakness right now.

Tiger hitting alot of fairways is hard to beat. Him leading a tournament or major then closing the deal has happened many times. Anyone know the exact numbers? If the conditions get tougher Tiger will have an advantage. I think it was the U.S open at Bethpage that happened , and Tiger widend the margin by playing better than the rest of the field.

If you look at the hole averages, not one par four is averaging less than 4 ,and only one par three has had a day with an average under 3. While the par fives are averaging 4.5 ,this does not sound like an easy course, and the fat lady is not clearing her throat.

I'm not sure if DiMarco will hold up this weekend, but I expect a stern challenge from Goosen and Els. These two guys are back in shape and dangerous. What's done Retief in the last few months has been the driver, and he said today that this is the best he's driven the ball in some time. If he would have putted today like he did yesterday, he'd prolly be winning right now. Should have went back to Old Faithful Thursday. And Ernie, from tee to green, has been fabulous. He's making putts, striking it solidly....like the Ernie of old.

I think you mean if Goosen had putted yesterday like he did today. He putted awful yesterday and great today except for a 3-putt at 17.

What does the thread title say, and what are you calling the thread starter?

Yeah, that's what I meant. He missed 3 or 4 putts yesterday from pretty short range. I heard the announcers say that Watson advised him to go back to the old putter and he did, and it paid off today. If his putter gets hot this weekend, with the way he's driving and striking the ball the 1st 2 days, he could make a run.

Well it's playing very soft again today. A bunch of guys are 3-4 under just on the front. It looks like a putting contest again today.

Yes this thread may have been a bit premature. Tiger & Ernie both off to iffy starts. Furyk & Sergio are both lighting it up, though Garcia just gacked on a 5 footer that would've given him the solo lead. We could have a great Sunday finish yet.

I think the two South African buddies went out last night and had one too many beers. They're both playing crummy, driving it in gorse bushes, hitting it in bunkers. Tough day for those two so far.

He's never been a good putter (Sergio that is), and Tiger just missed a short one. Those are the ones you must make to win the majors. That one may come back to haunt Tiger.
