Well, the Open Championship is over

23 of 28 fairways, 28 of 36 greens and 27.5 putts per round over the first two days for Tiger.

That's all she wrote, folks. This thing's over.

Yet another one of these predictions/statements of FACT? I'm probably one of the biggest Tiger fans around here, but I try to be realistic about it. He's right where he needs to be and I like his chances this weekend, but it's not over at all. What if he goes out and struggles like he did last year in the 3rd round? And what if, while struggling, someone else shoots a ridiculously good score and passes him? He's never won a major coming from behind, so I wouldn't call this anywhere near a lock until he's through 9 holes on Sunday with a 2+ shot lead.

"The thing's over"? A bit premature, laddie. As they say, "There's a lot of golf remaining to be played". You may be absolutely right, but anything can happen, right? Tiger may add to his eagle collection, Goosen might get it going. You are emphatic...early!

Els and Sergio are making good strides at getting right up there with Tiger. If it was the end of the day and Tiger was 3 or 4 shots ahead of everybody, then you might be right. But it ain't the end of the day yet.

Technically, it is not over, but the gist of the original posting is Tiger has at least a 75% chance of winning it, and I would agree. The best chance for Tiger losing the lead is if the wind is severe when Tiger plays and one of the stronger/straighter players beats the wind and is only 3 or 4 shots behind.

I would agree Goosen, Els and Garcia seem to be playing well, but we all know that Tiger is still in a class by himself (especially when the driver is not needed). Head to head he beats these guys like a drum.

Harrington, Donald, Monty must be saving their best for what's really important to the Europeans , the Ryder Cup!

If he was hitting 50% of the fairways and 60% of the greens, scrambling for pars and just eagling the par 5's, that'd be one thing. He's hitting fairways, he's hitting greens, he's makin' putts.

It's over.

and how do you know he will have the same stats on saturday? he might miss fairways, miss greens and a lot of those putts could be to save par.
it can never be over when theres 36 holes left, even if it was a 10 shot lead it wouldn't be over. say someone in the top 10 goes out and shoots 64,64 would it still be over in Tiger's favourite, the odds are in Tiger's favour right now but it certainly isn't over when there's still so many good players at the top of the leaderboard and a weekend left.

Ernie Els is enjoying the course.
-8 with 7 holes to play of his 2nd round.

If he gets to -10, he is well in contention.

Phil could also go on a charge. There is plenty of golf to be played.

What is over is me watching the tournament! No matter what he does, he is going to be all you see over the weekend.

That kind of **** is what drove me from the game before. I REALLY hope it doesn't happen again.

Yes, it is POSSIBLE for Tiger to collapse over the next two days and loose it. Her Majesty COULD also abdicate the throne too. Neither is likely to happen this weekend. When I saw the eagle on 14, I figure that not only is he the best golfer in the world, but maybe its just destiny that he win The British Open.

Works for me!

It's been far too long since I've been able to watch Tiger remind the nay-sayers that he is still far and away the top player....

Maybe that is because he hasn't been.

At any rate, there are others in the field and I guarantee you won't be seeing much of them. No matter who is your favorite, that is just WRONG!

Wouldn't hand it to Tiger yet. DiMarco has stared him down before to the very end. Goose has come from behind and chased Tiger down and beat him before (plus beat him in the Pres. Cup). And Ernie seems to be clicking on all cylinders. Those would be the 3 guys that could beat him. Everyone else is cooked.

No Tiger/Phil showdown in the offing, but Ernie is right there now, looks like they could play together tomorrow.

I can never get the order straight - if Ernie and DiMarco are tied at end of play, who plays with Tiger? Is it first in or last in?
