What is wrong with Phil

I like Phil. I have liked him since his amateur days. However, I don't think he will get anywhere near where he wants to go until he makes some swing changes.

Am I the only one that notices his swing with the driver is as long as Daly's? When he hits an iron shot, it is usually just short of parallel and looks pretty solid. He will never get the kind of consistency he is looking for with this swing.

Of course I am not the player Phil is and may never be, but I think his teacher(s) is doing him a disservice if he isn't addressing this.

I thought Phil had finally figured things out when he did so well leading up to and then at the Master's. I'm not a big fan of his, but there's no doubt the guy has talent. He's playing now like he was when he was known as "the best player to never have won a major".

A human who's swing doesn't hold up when he needs it to.

Actually, Phil's doing better than I thought he would this weekend. I picked him to miss the cut completely. Mentally, it's gonna take a while to come back from that 18th hole at Winged Foot. He can use all the cliches he wants, it's gonna sting him. Plus, it's the British Open, the last event you'd expect Phil to win. As for his swing, he'll be fine. Everyone goes through little fluctuations.

Phil shortened his driver swing a few years ago, and won his first major because of this and other conservative measures. He went back to his longer swing afterwards, feeling he would do better with longer tee-shots. A questionable strategy, but Phils will be Phils (and perhaps pros are under some pressure (or have some incentive) from their club sponsors to hit it long?). Of course he made the more aggressive strategy work for him at the 2006 Masters, but he required 2 drivers to execute it!
