4th Round - Let a non Tiger stand up and be counted!

For the 4th round, there is something which would be nice.

For a player in contention, other than Tiger to put in a good round. Then if Tiger wins fine. What sometimes annoys me is when the other players just falter and flaunder, and Tiger even does a little himself, but the other guys just don't put it up to him.

Leaderboard:
1 WOODS, Tiger -13
T2 ELS, Ernie Par -12
T2 DIMARCO, Chris -12
T2 GARCIA, Sergio -12
T5 CABRERA, Angel -11
T5 FURYK, Jim -11

So come on, guys in contention, give Tiger something to think about, play some good golf, and then if he plays better so be it. But give him a game.

With 5 players just a shot or 2 shots, surely one of them can put together a good round.

There has been alot of talk about Tiger leading after the 3rd round of 10 majors, and winning all those 10. However, quite often, he would have had quite a bit more than a 1 shot lead, with alot of players close in contention.

I think Chris Dimarco's 68 today qualifies as a good round. Somehow I get the feeling that no matter what Chris did today, Tiger would have somehow gone one better. Great playing from both those two, and with the emotions of losing a parent...special stuff.

I may not know a lot about golf but i would say dimarco gave tiger a good run for his money today to the point that if tiger had made a few of the mistakes he made earlier he very well could have lose. I just love watching it all together. I was cool.....

Rodney, worry not, he'll soon have some real competition in a few years time when Michelle Wie reaches her full potential!

Until then can we not just enjoy the wonder of this fantastic man??

Well Chris DiMarco did stand up to Tiger, and that is all I asked for.

Chris asked the questions, and Tiger had the answers.

For the 2 boys asking the Michelle Wie questions. The R&A knew that Michelle Wie would go around that course in about 25 under par. That is why they sabotaged her qualification, by placing it at the same time as a womens majors.

Lucky for Tiger I guess.
By the way Michelle and Tiger are equal on head to head performances.

I agree, Chris had a great round and he was fun to watch. But Tiger had the most solid round of the day. We can't say that about his final rounds in all of his major wins, but certainly this one.

He executed his game plan to perfection. And what a treat it was to see the return of the 3-wood stinger. It looks way too easy for him to hit that exactly where he wants it.

Once the round got going and Sergio 3-putted himself out of contention, the only time it was ever close was a few times when the groups ahead made birdie on the par 5's before Tiger got to them...

Why can't Europeans win this event? Are non-Europeans that much better? Or do the Euro's put too much pressure on themselves because it's on their side of the pond?

Can you imagine playing in a tournament that makes the pros so nervous they can't sleep?

With Tiger on that kind of form, it was going to be difficult for any European to win.
I'm kind of glad Harrington had his bad major, when Tiger was in such good form. Harrington was better off playing well and contending for the US Open, which was a course not designed for Tiger, like Hoylake was.

As regards, the abysmal general performance of the European, that is a difficult question.

Fact is that Tiger and Phil, are better players than the Europeans. If they play well on a course that sets up well for them, they have a great chance of winning. Simple as that.

Hoylake was designed for Tiger? If he had been just a small amount off this week with his iron play (and it doesn't take much with blades for that to happen), he would have struggled to make the cut more than likely. He had probably one of the best ball-striking weeks ever with mid and long irons by any player. He actually made the course a little more difficult on himself by laying back on so many holes, but he made up for it with all those bullet long and mid iron shots. Now, St. Andrews and Augusta were truly built for players like Tiger and Jack for sure.
