Lpga Champ: Wie 5th, Ochoa 9th.
us open: Wie 3rd, Ochoa 20th.
evian: Wie 2nd, Ochoa 5th.

That's only once Ochoa was ahead of Wie in a tournament, from 5 tournaments. Sure Ochoa has 2 wins, but if Wie had Ochoa's schedule maybe she would have 2 or more wins.
Good research. To me it's simply a statistical aberration that Wie hasn't won. She could just as easily have been less consistant and finished 10th in a couple of tourney's and 1st in a couple. Two putts going in at the Evian that didn't, traded with, two putts burning the edge instead of going in at the LPGA and you'd have a win and a 10th instead of a 2nd and a 5th. Putts don't go in entirely based on skill. At Wie's level, putts from 18 feet go in only 20% of the time or whatever. They go in when a little luck is added to the skill. If Wie's luck was less evenly distributed, she'd have a win under her belt, if you get my point.

Funny way to put it, but yep, it takes some luck to win a tourney with 140 people entered all of whom score within a shot or two of each other on average. It's rare to win a tourney with a preponderance of bad luck on your side that week. You need to be playing close to your best and have some decent luck along the way.

They say that Tiger can win even without his A game and I agree. He's about the only guy that can have a bad week in regard to luck, or, his game and still win. I doubt he could win if he had his B game and luck was against him that week. By the time Wie is 19 I'll bet she'll be in the same category as Tiger; she'll only need her B game to win if she gets a few good bounces along the way.

Here's an interesting article about Wie with a quote that shows how she agrees with my accessment that a little luck is needed to win a tourney:

<<< "It just depends how lucky you are that week and how good you're playing." >>>

Michelle knows her stroke and trusts that under pressure...all professional golfers have to or they'd be out of the game...but deciding how hard to hit a putt under that kind of pressure and then executing it takes some fortitude.
I think the speed of your putts in pressure situation is a direct indication of how tight you are. If a golfer is consistently leaving putts short i.e. Sergio he's clearly tightening up under the pressure. Adam Scott is another guy with a ton of talent tee to green but right now his putting i.e. at the Wachovia Championship, the Bryon Nelson, and the Barclays Championship in Westchester N.Y cost him dearly.
