So would I! I'm just saying, for him it's bound to be a bit of a letdown knowing 2 more birdies (2 par-5's and he didn't birdie either of them!) would have gotten him in the history books forever with a 59.
I'm sure he is too. He's been struggling lately. Hopefully he can keep it up and contend this weekend (perhaps even win it?). I've always liked Pavin because he hits it a similar distance to me. Representin' the short hitter.
Yup, most of "short hitter" can identify with a player like Pavin. He has shown to us that with consistancy, accuracy, and course management, short hitters can win the tourneys. :)
I saw his great start on the leaderboard, but didn't know it was that low...man...looked like fiddies was comin'. I briefly considered putting Corey on my fantasy golf team. I'm playing in the GR league. That would have been the way to go today. ;) Corey's score will cause some very low point totals today for most of us.
Corey Pavin would outdrive 90+% of the golfers on this forum. The term "short hitter" hardly applies anymore.
Nonetheless, it was good to see him have a good round. I hope he's in contention come Sunday.
I seem to recall a tournament on one of those desert courses where he drove a green by hitting it over a large pond. Seems like he had to carry it well over 250 to get it there. I think this was just last year.
I consider myself a short hitter, and I typically get it out there 260+ even back home where it's humid and there's not a ridiculous amount of roll like here in Lubbock (where I can get it out there 300+ when there's no wind). Pavin is a short hitter for sure just like me, and that gives me even more reason to root for him.

The 260 is average though, including all mishits and crushed ones. I'd hazard to say that not more than 10% of the people on this forum *average* 260 off the tee. Plus, he's got a 353 yarder this year, so that's not all bad. Anyway, he's short for a PGA Tour player, but compared to the rest of us, he's a veritable bomber.
Short hitter on the PGA Tour is like calling a 6 foot tall guard in the NBA a little guy.
Nice analogy League. It reminds me of when I use to play intramural basketball. I'm 6 foot and usually was the tallest on our team. We would play teams that had monsters and my teammates would look at me and say, "you've got the big guy."
