If Stevie were to retire

Yeah i called him Stevie Anyways i guess the very easy answer to this is the caddy doesnt matter that much especially to Tiger Woods perhaps the greatest golfer the game has ever seen. Well as much respect i have for Tiger im not so certain it wouldnt take away a bit of confidence in approach to the course and confidence on the golf course. Im sure youll get those guys who will say"I could caddy for Woods and hed break all the records". While probably not to far off i think this could be a great one for debate. They almost seem like brothers(Stevie being the older brother). Tiger seems to be very at ease and comfortable with Stevie around. It may even be more so off the course in knowing he has him than inside the ropes and technical caddy stuff like yardages and preparation. If Stevie decided to go back to New Zealand and be a driver i think Tigers dominance would take a small step backwards as i feel a major comfort level he has in Stevie. Id be very interested in hearing some thoughts on Tiger after Stevie retires if it ever happens while in pursuit of Jack's record. I say he will stay on to see the record then retire but im posing a question basically in respect for Stevie and how much he means overall to Tiger Woods and his golf game and in his life.

Wink Stevie

At this time Stevie is a "rock" for Tiger since his dad passed away and if he left Tiger would be set back for a short while then his focus would snap him back on track of the records.

There may be some temporary setback, but a caddie can be replaced. Tiger will have no trouble finding good candidates, and he will surely select someone who will serve him well.

Im sure before 1999 the same was said about Fluff Cowen, and we all know what happened in 2000.

And in the 2005 Presidents Cup, Stevie went home for the birth of his child. Billy Foster, Darren Clarkes caddy, was on the bag.

Thursday Foursomes- Woods/Couples lose to Scott/Goosen 4 & 3
Friday 4 Ball- Woods/Furyk defeat Appleby/Hensby 3 & 2
Friday Foursomes- Woods/Furyk halve with Singh/Appelby
Saturday 4 Ball- Woods/Furyk defeat Singh/Appelby 2 up
Sunday Singles- Woods loses to Goosen 2 & 1

Remember this is one weekend and a different format than a normal tournament.

I agree that once he found the right fit for him, he would be back to his normal ways.

There would be a transition period, but he'd soon keep on rolling. I know that this is a hypothetical, but why in the world would Steve leave Tiger of his own accord ?

unless they are really butting heads behind the scenes, there's no reason too.

From the books I've read about caddies (and I've read more than a few) the pro-golfer/caddie relationship is a strong one and I don't doubt that Steve leaving would have an effect on Tiger. But Tiger is a strong man and he would still be a great golfer...even if he had to carry the bag himself. (can't see that happening, though. What's Steve make? $600,000.00 a year?)
