Ben Crane disqualified

Was he disqualified for playing too slow at the US Bank Open in Milwaukee?

Signing an incorrect scorecard. He doubled one of the par 3's but put down 3. How on earth does that happen?

I wish I could do that to some of the guys I've had to play behind here lately!

Does anyone else see the irony of Ben Crane NOT taking the time here to thoroughly check the scorecard?

It happens because he does not fill out his own card. One of his playing competitors does. So, the scoring error is more common than you think. But its up to the player to check his own card at the end of the round, and correct any discrepancies before signing it.

72...he was at 1 under for the tournament. Wouldn't have made the cut had his score been accurate anyway.

Greetings ...

That's a case of one less Crane whooping it up!

Every golfer who's played competive golf knows that when you are keeping the other players score, you also should keep your score on the same scorecard, probably near the bottom, and then compare what you wrote down to what your playing competitor wrote down for you. There is no excuse for this. The only thing I can think of is the '3' was written very sloppily and Crane's quick scan of the numbers made him think it was a '5'.

if he knew that he was well under the cut line, he probably didn't really care to meticulously check the card.

Good point. Most cards in competition have a small perforated section for the marker to keep his own score. At the end of the round, you rip off the perforated section, and use it to check your score vs. your official scorecard.

Bingo. Also, every tournament that I've been in has had an official at either hole #9 or #18 (depending on which 9 you started on) and they would go over your card after the players had checked their own cards amongst each other. Still, there's simply no excuse for signing an incorrect scorecard. Simp

Knowing he missed the cut, he probably didn't give it a good look. I would think a double on a par 3 would occupy a special place in his mind.
