I'm not a Braves fan, I'm a Mariners fan (poor me), but I have to admit that at that time the Braves were by far one of the best teams in baseball. They were an outstanding team. They didn't win it all, but if the ball had bounced their way a couple of times when it bounced the other way, they would have won the world series. Obviously they were frustrated, but they were still one of the best and could have easily won it all.

By your logic, the braves players should be ashamed, stare at their empty mantels and/or gone back to play in the minor leagues where they could have easily led in every statistic. What sort of logic is that?

She'd win by 20 shots a tournament and she'd risk getting injured and never receiving a dime in endorsements or prize money. Her game would lanquish as she would not face competition remotely worthy of her abilities.
Matt Leinart (sp) comes to mind

Im not saying she or the braves, or anyone else for that matter, should be ashamed of what they had accomplished, but in the end Id bet the majority of if not all of the braves players of the time were more than ho hum about how they finished.

And I feel ya on the Mariners, I myself am a lifelong Cubs fan

Why do you take such pleasure in that? Did Wie spend some of her money to open a cafe that put your lemonade stand out of business?

Despite that one bad hole, she's still in position to make a boat load of money and finish near the top of another major tourney. Se Ri withdrew and Webb missed the cut. Once again Wie proves her abilities are remarkable for someone of such little experience.

Wie's not intense? She's totally intense. She controls her emotions fairly well for someone that's only 16. Her intensity and self control are extreme positives for Wie, not the negatives you are trying to spin them as. One of her significant advantages is her mental game and her drive to win.

How do you think she got so darn good at 16? By not caring or not trying? you're just off in some sort of 4th dimension where reality plays no role.

Do yall not pay attn, I DONT DOUBT HER ABILITY, I DOUBT HER INTENSITY AND HER ABILITY TO WIN AT THIS PT, WHEN SHE DOES, I WILL BE FIRST IN LINE TO SAY CONGRATULATIONS.

and just for the record, there are 40 players ahead of her, many of whom the majority of us have never heard of, including an amatuer

Oh come on guys, you are arguing about a girl, a child! Arguing over a woman is one thing, but over a girl and just about golf... take a step back, it just reflects so badly.

Now I like to see Wie play well as much as anybody, and think she's great for the game. But she's currently tied for 41st place, and that's not "near the top".

I didn't expect much from her in this major, as I don't think she has enough links experience. I haven't gotten to watch her play yet, but her scores indicate she is finding the course "challenging". I doubt she'll be able to make up much ground over the weekend, and more than likely will end up in the middle of the pack. There's nothing wrong with that, as even the best of players cannot expect to be on top every single week they play. There are a lot of big names not even playing this weekend, including the one I picked to win (Mi Hyun Kim). Wie is right about where I expected her to be, and it won't be the last time she ends up out of contention. But I'd also be surprised if she doesn't come back within the next 5 years and win a Women's British Open. I'll be surprised if she doesn't have a career slam completed in that time. But this week's WBO is not gonna be part of that slam.

That's why there's a good chance that she will finish near the top of the pack. How much golf do you actually watch? Most of the 'haven't heard ofs' and amatures fade in the final rounds.

That's my point, she's a girl. Why are people being so hard on her? How much does she need to accomplish before she's an adult two years from now for people to stop being so critical of her!? Hasn't she accomplished more than any other girl of 16 in the entire history of golf? Nobody at her age has ever been a better golfer. Not even close.

Enough to bet she has yet to win and more than likely wont finish in the top 10 this week.

Of course, there's that small problem of their World Series title in 1995 that gets in the way of your argument.

I'm just pointing out that your haven't heard ofs' and amatures comment is reason to believe she'll finish higher than the 40th place you referenced. No guarantees, but one of the best women golfers is likely to make up quite a bit of ground against most of the competition above her. Tiger has been in 40th place numerous times in tourneys only to finish in the top 5. Yes, compared to most of the people above her in the leaderboard (I said most, not all) Wie is very Tiger-like.
