He withdrew from the qualifier. Apparently T5 in the Open (2004) only gets you one invite.

Based on his 19 missed cuts in his 36 PGA Tour events since he joined the Tour in 2005, I'd say he probably didn't feel like wasting his time.

I don't know where is going to have any status next year - 196th on last year's money list, 150th this year. Hope he has a good fall finish because he needs it.

Teeing it up in Flint this week, though.

Thanks for the info.

Levet finished 2nd in a playoff with Els in the 2002 Open, finished T5 in the 2004 Open, was a member of the 2004 Ryder Cup team, and was picked by Golf Magazine to win the Open this year. I took him in a pool this year as one of my five picks, and was shocked not to see his name. I would be amazed if he made this decision by himself to simply withdraw from this major. There must be some other reason. X5.

I am shocked Golf picked him. The 2004 Open was the last top 25 he posted on the PGA Tour. Dude is in a serious slump.

I haven't found anything about an injury, and he hasn't missed any significant periods of time in between starts. As far as I can tell he is simply playing poorly. He was eligible for the Masters because h was RC member, but that's the only major he played in this year. He's not in the field for the PGA either.

Nice finishes in the WC team event at the end of the last couple seasons, but other than that, he simply hasn't played well in over two years. That's a shame, I always like his game. I remember when he won the Barclays Scottish Open right before the 2004 Open, he was on fire. Shot a 63 on the last day at Loch Lomond to come from 7 back, and he wasn't eligible for that major, either, so it also secured his start. Thrilling stuff.

I noticied his GIR stats are way off from when he was a top player in Europe. He was 12th, 12th, 1st, 4th and 3rd in that stat his last 5 years before he came over, which tells you what a good ball striker he always was. His putting average is 197th this year. Brutal. I hate it when good players fall off so badly.
