Ok guys pardon my ignorance, tiger has 11 majors and jack has 18,to put into perspective tigers chances of catching up i want to know how many majors there are in one year,so could you supply amounts and names of tournament
cheers guys thats what i thought but wondered if there was any missing from my list,so if there are 4 and tiger wins half = 2 per year then he will overtake jack in the year 2014,well its a tall order, tiger is the best at moment but who is to say that his play will remain consistent,i reckon he needs two a year for the chance to do it whilst still at good age

Tiger is 7 majors behind Jack, at 2 per year that would be midway through 2010 to tie and a bit later that year to break the record. I personally think he will easily break the record, he breaks records every other week.

You might also look at it this way, rickdabler: If Tiger stays healthy and plays in every major championship through the age of 46, he will play in 65 majors. Nicklaus won his final major at age 46.
Tiger must win eight of those 65 majors to break Jack's record. Thus far, he has won 11 of the 39 majors he has played in as a pro. It would seem to me that Jack's record is in grave danger.
