2006 International

Not the deepest of fields this year, but not bad, either.

http://www.golfintl.com/news/2006field.htm

I'm going down on Sunday to watch most of the final round. I usually hang out on holes 14, 15 & 16.

On a side note...

I flew in from Chicago on Sunday afternoon, and I think there was a pro on my flight. He was wearing a Cleveland Golf cap and carrying a Srixon laptop-ish bag. At the baggage claim, he picked up a HUGE Titleist golf travel bag AND a Club Glove XXL golf travel bag.

Looking forward to this one myself as I live in Denver and it (as you know) is in Castle Rock...Can't wait. Think there's 18 or 19 top 50 ranked players entered so it should be well worth seeing. I like the 17th best as it seems to be pivotal each year on Sunday.

I actually like this tournament. I like the modified Stableford system it rewards aggressive play. The course is also one of the most scenic that you see on the tour. It's too bad it plays step-child to the PGA Championship due to scheduling. I think it would be more popular among players if it was scheduled in a different time of the year.

Phil has a great record in this tournament, although he has been a tad quiet the last couple years.

With Tiger seemingly playing his best golf since 2000...and looking like he may run away with the Player Of The Year award, Phil could really use a great performance this week and take that into Chicago. I'm pulling for Phil in a big way.

It's certainly a fun event, with lots of birdies and eagles flying. It'd be good to see Phil enter the PGA playing well to add a bit more flavor to that Woods-Mickelson-Ogilvy pairing the first two days.

Good to see the Shark making a return to Tournament golf but was shocked to see him on the bottom run of betting at a whopping 751/1 !!!!! How things have changed. Go Shark.

Just love your humour with that one . On a serious note viewing golf tournaments down under has never been quite like the times when The Great White Shark was on fire. He was just a magnet to the crowd and the course was electrified with his presence.

Continuing my good run of predictions, I'm backing Greg Norman to win the title.

Well done Greg Norman.
+5 in round 1 is very respectable.

Paul Casey +1
Chris Dimarco -4, very good at a normal event, very bad at this event.
Phil Mickelson -3 after 3 holes, courtesy of a double bogey at the first hole.

Wow that course is scenic... Just been watching it today on USA.

Just a TAD better condition than the course I play at home!

Actually, the other course on the property (Country Club at Castle Pines) has much more scenic views. Some of the pros will hit range balls up there instead because the view is so nice. Castle Pines Golf Clubs (International course) makes up for the view with very well-manicured grounds and lots o' flowers.

We've got some great courses here in Colorado...Not a bad thing that the altitude is so high either. I moved from Texas and added 12 yards to my drive without changing a thing.

Yeh, good effort by the Shark , looking at his card could have been one or two better . Hoping for a good consistent second round.

yep, here's hoping he continues the decent scores, but cannot see it being a reality.

There seems to be a lot of shark fans here. I was able to meet him on Monday day and Tuesday and it was a real thrill although he was not overly friendly.
