Do you think Adam Scott will break through and win a finally major within the next 4 years?
What do you think of his chances this week?
It's so hard to guess these things, but I wouldn't be surprised at all. He's 26 years old and has Major talent (no pun intended) He's got 13 PGA tour starts this year and finished in the top 10 in 6 of those. (including an 8th place finish in the (British) Open, Two second place finishes (Barclay's Classic and Nissan open and two thirds (the Wachovia Championship and the EDS Byron Nelson Championship) In fact, in one stretch this year, between May 4th and June 11th he finished 3rd, 3rd, 4th and 2nd. He's 8th on the money list and 13th in Driving distance (problem here though is, he's also 110th in Driving Accuracy) If he can bring up his percentage of fairways hit and cut some strokes off his work on the green, he could be a superstar. But only time will tell.
Scott has never finished in the top 7 at a major so he has to step it up if he wants to be holding a major championship trophy on Sunday. A lot can happen in four years but i don't like his chances this week.
I'd have to agree with that...Major butterflies on Sunday at a major.
I would be quite suprised if he does not win a major.
Painful to watch him putt, though.
I like his chances this week. He is precisely the kind of golfer you would expect to score well on Medinah. You need to shape it R2L on 9, 11, and 16. The greens are not that difficult if you control your distance. In fact I think if you look at the stats from the 1999 PGA and the 1990 US Open, many of the top ball strikers were in contention. He has pleny of game, I could see his first top 5 coming this week.
Guess we'll start finding out in 7 minutes when he tees off.

Not doing badly so far...Out in 35 (Even par through 6. Then Birdie, bogie, birdie on 7, 8 and nine. On the back nine he started back in with a birdie and has pared 11, 12 and 13. So after 13 holes he stands at -2, four behind the leaders.
Just post a 33 on the back 9, now T6, up 21 spots. 8 birdies, 15 pars, 4 bogies thus far. He'll need to keep posting red numbers if he wants to stay on the first couple pages this afternoon.
I really have a good feeling about this course being a good fit for his game this week. The greens are slow enough I think it will somewhat mitigate the weakest part of this game.
He may not win the Wannamaker but I think top 5 is a strong possibility if he continues to control his distance.
No breakthrough, but a fine week for Adam Scott nonetheless. Congrats to him on his best finish in a major (T3). 2nd lowest round of the day, and led the field in birdies for the week.
71-69-69-67 = 276 (-12)
Just as Luke Donald and Ryan Moore will take away a lot of positives from this week, I think Adam took some steps forward. I believe he will win a major in 2007.
Of course Adam will break through in the next few years! He has two consecutive top 10 finishes in majors now which will give him such a boost next year! I think 2007 may be the year!! It won't be long till Adam breaks through and when it does it'll be worthwhile!
Adam worked so hard to get his swing to match Tiger's. The problem is, his swing matches Tiger's previous Butch Harmon swing. It's a good swing, but it's not the 'take-it-to-the-next-level' swing that TW has built with Hank.

the biggest difference between Tiger and Scott(and everyone else) is what's upstairs and not so much the swing.
