Umbrella caper

When Phil held the umbrella over Tiger during T's post-round interview, Tiger (and I) seemed to find it amusing, even when he tipped it to show the Callaway emblem. Everyone was laughing.

But I just heard on another board that Butch Harmon was pretty nasty about Phil's action on BBC. Anyone from across the pond have the scoop on that?

Why do we make nothing into something in America all the time? Brangelina..Bennifer...so dumb. Noone cares about Phil making a joke or what kind of frappuccino Britney Spears orders. Can we grow up America?...just a bunch of monkeys LOL

Babe, it is not just America that has this obsession with celebrity! Ask any of the English Royals that are hounded by the papparazi.....I don't get it, but celebrity stalking seems to be worldwide!

Yes I watched it.

Butch said, "that's just Phil being Phil", but it was the way he said it that was worse. He said it in the tone of voice like, that's just Phil acting like the complete idiot that he is.

The actual incident was very good fun, and I'd bet most people enjoyed it.

For the record, the tv channel was sky sports.

Butch Harmon is a prima donna plain and simple, in my opinion that’s the best description.

Webster’s definition: A temperamental, vain, or arrogant person.

It was a nice attempt by Phil to show that things are cool between him and Tiger. It was a little goofy, but good natured.

It threw off Tiger a bit while he was trying to answer the question. A more savvy interviewer would have found a way to bring Phil in to the interview, and get a bit of dialog from Tiger on Phil, and Phil on Tiger. It was a golden opportunity that was lost.
