I'll admit...this was one of the more boring Sunday majors in a long time. I think even Tiger kinda summed it up when they asked how he felt about it, and it was an unenthusiastic "Sweet." I think even Tiger wants to be pushed a little bit. Not to take anything away from Tiger b/c he is undoubtedly the best in our generation, and soon to be all......but someone please push this guy.
Phil, Ernie, Retief, Sergio and Vijay do great when Tiger's having an off tourney, but when Tiger is on his "A" game, they're way back in the pack. It's like they shrivel up like turtles.
I am not hating. If one of the contenders shot a 65 or 66, to actually challenge Tiger for once, I would be far from disappointed. Tiger shot a 68, which was a lucky round for him, given he admitted he sank putts which were unlikely. He also made his best up-and-down of the year (how convient) and at the same time was saying he was happy to be on the green (typical Tiger Woods standards).
Look at a guy like Luke Donald, made NOTHING all day. The only reason Tiger Woods topped him because he sank some bombs, at the same time Luke Donald was having massive lip-outs.
I don't see how its dominating when a player is getting good luck, and his nearest contenders are getting no luck, and its just cruise control to the end. The reason that Jack had only 18 majors was because his competitors actually decided to play golf on the final day.
I've got to be honest...the phrase "handing it to Tiger" is beginning to grate on me just a bit. It's not that I'm an over zealous Tiger fan...I'm a GOLF fan. Tiger knows how to play the game at levels that others don't quite suspect. He earns his victories. Give him his due. You are privileged to witness history. Embrace it. Get over the psychoanalysis.
I agree with the above to the point that I don`t see where the "pros" would not try their best that day to win.It is their livelyhood to win.If they don`t have the desire to play their best to win there are plenty of courses that need teachers. The best player that day will win no matter who it is.
Despite Pelz's comments, Tiger has proven for the last decade that he's the best pressure putter out there. He is just fantastic with the putter. The reason his bombs fell is because he hit them close...rather, he hit them in the hole.
One birdie Tiger got was solely because he hit his approach inside of Donald and got to watch the line. Is that luck? In that case, Phil was lucky to win the Masters in 2004 and maybe we shouldn't count that one. Or maybe we shouldn't count his PGA last year because Tiger never made a charge and actually went home before the tournament was over. Or, perhaps, maybe we shouldn't count Phil's Masters win this year because Tiger didn't do anything in the final round and couldn't get a putt to fall.
You hit the ball with your irons and putter the way Woods did this week, you deserve to win running away, and he did. There's nothing cheap about it, he was just the only one who could put up the big red numbers all four days.

i totally agree. Tiger Woods is the luckiest golfer of all time. his 12 major victories are all just a sham. what a charlatan.
Classic Tiger Woods win. The field just hands it to him. If anyone in the top 5 could have putt half decently, Tiger Woods would be the loser again. Boring, boring, boring, hope Tiger Woods is trampled on next week so we can enjoy golf again.
When you shoot one of the lowest scores on the day you win it and certainly and not having handed to you. Not to mention four sub 70 rounds and one round equalling the course record

I would never argue that "the field handed it to Tiger" - 68 on a Sunday is often enough to win a Major. But nobody put him under any pressure - a few red numbers up on the board early on might have made it somewhat interesting.
I sat down for dinner just before Tiger and Donald teed off, expecting Tiger to win. I turned on just as Tiger made birdie on 8 to go to -18. I turned it straight off and started getting ready for bed since it wasn't going to be worth watching.
