i love morgan pressel, i met her one time at the corning classic and shes a terrific person, she gets really agressive sometimes but that comes with being young, i hope she pulls it off
I doubt Morgan has the experience or the temperment to win yet, but at least she is getting in a good positions.
When she learns to control herself and stop getting so annoyed after a bad shot, she should win lots of titles.
Anyone watch her down the stretch of the last tournament she was in?

Yes, I watched her at the Safeway. Started the day at -7 after sinking a 25 footer at the last the day before, and she was even for day coming to 15. Birdie got her to -8, pretty much the closest she has come to a late lead all year.
Promptly doubled then bogied to finish five back. This is the kind of performance I have come to expect from her this year. She may mature, or she may never learn to control her emotions. I felt the same way about her at last year's US Open and when she was trouncing everyone at the US Am.
Loads of talent, but she does have the temperment of a major champion IMO. I don't attribute that to being 17 or immature. I've seen plenty of late teens who can control themselves. It is simply her nature. She has to make changes in her self if she really wants to get to the elite level. She has the talent. But this ain't football.
BPC,
I just watched the her last few holes of that last tournament and the double bogey you spoke of was interesting for a number of reason.
First it was hole 16, she had a 15 footer for birdie, which would have taken her 1 off the lead. She really went for it and hammered it 6 feet past.
That was strange, but then for her to hammer the next two putts 5 feet past as well was the bigger surprise, and a very unnecessary 4 putt.
I wonder if that is her amateur matchplay mentality of really going for the putt and not worrying about what she is leaving herself after it.
Well it is interesting to follow a group of top pros around. I am always a little amazed at how often they shoot for the center of the green, and how conscientous they are to miss on the correct side. There are some holes that are green light all the way, and they try to capitalize on those (plus most par 5s). They may miss a putt on the pro (high) side, but they're also thinking about having a stress free tap in if they miss. I think in general they are very conservative in their course management compared to scratch amateurs.
Morgan does not impress me as someone who manages her game or her temper very well. Hopefully she will change at some point.
EDIT: It's not just anger management with her, though. Remember how badly she struggled with pace at the US Open last year? I don't think that is from the match play mentality. I just think under pressure she gets too hyped up, and the small muscles don't work as well when the adrenal glands are secreting endorphins.

Typo there, of course you meant 16/18 GIR.
It was a great ball striking round.

Left a few out there. Don't we all.
With a little over half the field in she is 2 back, T7.
Jee Young Lee has gone -7 after 14 to take the lead. She did the same thing in the last tournament first round, and then went way back after that.
There are alot of high calibre players near the lead:
-6 Stacy Prammanasudh
-5 Lorena Ochoa, Karrie Webb, Brittany Lincicome, Natalie Gulbis
-4 Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Ai Miyazato
Mi Hyun Kim withdrew from the tournament after a +3 first round.
Her putting has been hard to watch. She had trouble early in the year, but it was line issues more than pace. I think she went to a shorter putter, and now her line looks better but her speed control is broken.
Last week almost every put she missed she missed al least three feet past the hole. On 16 and 17 last week she hit both greens, within 15 ft, and was +3 for the two holes. Hard to watch, and I like her.
From what little I saw today, better pace but missing the line.
