Any Americans besides me pulling for Europe??

First off, for anyone who has followed my posts, it has nothing to do with Woods. Since I got interested in the game, I have pretty much pulled for Europe in the Ryder Cup.

I guess the main reason is I have always been a huge Faldo fan. But other than that, the Euros just seemed to be more interesting to me. A big part of this was probably not seeing them all the time.

Back in the day it just seemed they had more personality. Faldo the machine. Seve the charismatic one, never knowing what he would do next. Wee Woosie. Olazabal with so much competitiveness. Monty because no one else liked him. Langer the grinder.

Nope, no chance. As an American I pull for our team, period.

What if I'm just interested in seeing some good golf and don't especially care who wins?

When it comes to Ryder Cup, no way -- I'm rooting for the yanks. Individual events? Totally different.

As far as respect, however... I have much more respect for the Euros now than the American team. We just have a knack (it seems) to not respond to the challenge. It's almost like we think we can go over there with our C players and pull it off. Or at least that's how I've perceived it in the past.

I think the Euros have certainly given us a reason to be concerned. But in the end, I hope the cup comes back to the states. I have no clue what type of pressure these guys go through, I know it must be enormous. But I hope we can get off to a good start early instead of playing catch-up. Early momentum is really important.

Go USA!

Well, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration... but I will say this: IF the Euros had the talent on their team that we have had over the past several years, I seriously doubt that there would've been a need for Sunday matches.

My point is that we'd better start respecting the Euro Ryder Cup team a lot more than we let on.

No, as I said I just liked more Euro golfers when I first got interested.

After the Europeans romped us last year, I would love nothing more than payback in the form of a romp. We ought to want to romp them bad after last year. In addition, I hope we have a big enough lead going into Sat. afternoon that Tiger, Phil, Jim, and Chris all have the luxury of sitting down and letting all the rookies play.

I'll be rooting for the US as always, though after my experience at the practice rounds at Oakland Hills last time I can understand why the European team could be more appealing to folks. To a man the Europeans were friendly and extremely accommodating to the fans, while, with 1 or 2 exceptions, the US players went about their business as if the galleries weren't even there. The Europeans just seem to "get it" regarding what the RC is all about. Maybe it will be different this time.
