#1.....You need 60 rounds of golf to win the Vardon trophy and Tiger i believe as of right this minute has 47. Boston will make 51....Tour Championship makes 55 and the WGC makes 59. Where is the other tourney going to come from?????? Im thinking the FUNAI. Surely with a chance to win his 7th Vardon he wouldnt miss the minimum # of rounds would he?? Also if he missed a cut would he add another one beyond FUNAI to win that trophy and break the record for the most ever Vardons(can you pass up a Vardon trophy by not getting in a couple rounds?).
#2 Now that being said if Tiger does indeed play the FUNAI that will make 10 tourneys hes in the rest of the year.(below ive included confirmed schedule from website) Ive also heard he is playing in the World Cup with Jim Furyk making that 11 more times Tiger will tee it up this year. Thats alot of golf for Tiger to say the least. My question is have you heard about him playing in the World Cup with Jim Furyk in Barbados and does anyone dispute my 11 tourneys he will play in?....also dont forget lets say he missed the cut at Funai would he add a 12th tourney to win the Vardon?..More than likely he will make the cuts so 11 is my number. Below are confirmed from his website 9 tourneys. I say he adds 2 more(1-Funai to have enough rounds to win Vardon and 2 World cup w/Jim Furyk)

Add Funai and World Cup to make 11 more times this year WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would strongly disagree. Tiger is very well aware of history and his place in history and if he were to fall short of total rounds to get to 60 to win a Vardon you better believe he will add it. Stay tuned.
Well after looking at the list he has already broken that record with 6 and now would be going for 7. My thoughts are he would like to win that vardon again and will add the Funai to his schedule. He is playing alot of golf so if he adds Funai its almost certainly to win the Vardon again. So lets stay tuned to see if he does. Im certain he will get the 60 minumum rounds and im certain he wants that trophy again. To lead the tour in scoring is more than a meaningless trophy....this is a prestigious trophy as this article quotes my friend...........Tiger Woods closed out yet another landmark season in his career Sunday by surpassing Hall of Famers Billy Casper and Lee Trevino and winning a record sixth Vardon Trophy, one of the most prestigious competitive awards based on a player's season-long performance. For you to call it fairly meaningless is in my opinion way wrong. Sure there are other things and bigger things that Woods wants but dont tell me he doesnt take pride in this and wont add one tourney to win THIS PRESTIGIOUS award.
I never said it was on his to do list or a goal of his from the beginning of the year but as a year progresses and it becomes apparant you will win the award if you play another event i would think Tiger or any other player would heavily consider playing to get a nice award like that. If he doesnt get the 60 minimum rounds then you will be 100% correct. I suspect if he plays Funai or another event i would suspect i may be correct due to his intense schedule from here on out.
I agree with you, tigeroverjack. I am sure Tiger would like to win another Vardon Trophy, and entering the Funai is not much of a stretch for him, as he has played in it many times and it is close to his home.
I wont say Funai will prove me or league right or wrong. I do however think he will play that event . But we are in disagreement over whether Tiger would play an event to get to 60 rounds to win the Vardon. Tiger does value time off but i just dont see you sitting at 59 rounds(when you need 60) if that may be the case and not playing the Funai which is 2 weeks before the Tour Championship. Maybe he plans on the Funai and this is a dumb debate anyways. But my sole arguement is it means something to tour players and Tiger to win the Vardon trophy. Maybe its not #1 and maybe its low in the scheme of things but still if you are in position to win it i think Tiger would like to add that to his collection and every growing legacy. Thats the basic question...would Tiger not play an event and say forget the Vardon or would he play the event to win the Vardon. I say being that close you go ahead and play and win it.
Tiger will probably play the Funai...it's not too much of a stretch to drive from Isleworth to Disney.
Also, I heard on the telecast about Tiger being scheduled to play with Furyk in the World Cup but couldn't find confirmation anywhere. It might make sense though, as it's being played at Sandy Lane Resort, the place where Tiger and Elin were married.
Tiger does get interested in the POY award and when he was putting his case forward in 2003, he stated the Vardon Trophy as one of the things in his corner. I would be very surprised if he wasn't aware of what he needs to do to get that award.
I think Tiger will play to get the Vardon trophy. Even though he's clinched Player of the Year, he would not get the POY points for lowest scoring average if he doesn't play the minimum 60 rounds.
I don't even think the Match Play event counts for scoring average (maybe wrong, since there's no actual record of scoring), so he may have 44 rounds instead of 47, and he would have to make the cut at Funai and Duetsche bank. If he somehow misses a cut, he may have add another event like Chrysler.
In fact, the Vardon Trophy is a fairly meaningless award that has little, if anything, to do with golf history. Great players aren't remembered for how many Vardon Trophies they won.
Jack Nicklaus never won a Vardon Trophy. We can all clearly see how that fact has ruined his reputation. BTW, Billy Casper won something like three or four Vardon Trophies...during Jack's salad days.
