Yes, the stroke average is excellent.
Annika was the only one to break 70 in scoring average in 2005. Looking at the 2005 stats, they are very interesting:
2005 Stroke Averages:
1 Annika Sorenstam 69.33
2 Cristie Kerr 70.86
3 Paula Creamer 70.98
4 Jeong Jang 71.17
5 Natalie Gulbis 71.24
9 Lorena Ochoa 71.39
2006 so far:
Leads Scoring Average:
1 Lorena Ochoa 69.56
2 Karrie Webb 70.22
3 Cristie Kerr 70.23
4 Juli Inkster 70.33
5 Annika Sorenstam 70.36
6 Paula Creamer 70.65
Lorena has really stepped up her game.
Also, look at Paula Creamer average in 2005, Paula was 70.98, just breaking 71 and was still third.
In 2006, Paula's average is 70.65, that's 0.33 better and yet she is only 6th, perhaps explaining why Paula hasn't won any tournaments yet, the standard has got better.
