Golfers Who Might Lose Tour Cards after this year...

John Daly, Steve Jones, Mark Brooks, Lee Janzen

After next year, possibly Steve Elkington.

Notah Begay ~ no more medical exemptions

Rich Beem ~ either after this year or next year, a flash in the pan with one major

Jones, I believe, goes to the Senior Tour next year. I think he's 48 or 49. I can't imagine John Daly or Lee Janzen playing on the Nationwide Tour. I always thought you the PGA Championship got you a lifetime exemption on the PGA Tour.

I hate that for Brooks. I always admired his swing.

Jones is in Senior Tour in 2008 (I believe). I don't see him going to q-school with only one full year left.

It could happen if they fall out of the top 150. If they fall between 126-150, they have unlimited sponsor's exemptions, but they will have to beg for events and may not be able to pick and choose their events like they used to. The PGA Championship exemption quit being a lifetime exemption around 1970.

Craig Perks (2002 Players Champion) has one more year. After trying to get swing changes for consistency, his game is even worse. Now he is consistently bad or mediocre for a pro.

How ironic on Brooks. He mentioned that the biggest perk for winning the PGA was a 10 year exemption.

I wonder if lowering the age for the Champion's Tour would give them a place to play plus generate more interest.

Lowering the age in the champions tour will cause a lot of older people to loose a living that they earn at the moment.

If a player does not have a card for 2007 they will be in more trouble than in past years. I estimate that because of the FedExCup forceing the better players to play more often that 100 players who made any money in 2006 will make zero in 2007.

I think the FedEx Cup will be a flop. The top players will have to play 6 of 7 weeks from the PGA through the Tour Championship. I just don't see the top players doing that.

I love the Senior Tour. I would have to give it some more thought, but I don't see much of a downside.

The guys you speak of should earn their living between, say 45 and 55.

...using the same logic, the 40 to 50 should have earned their living in their 20s + 30s.
