Was anyone else flabbergasted at this split-screen joke at the Deutsch Open this weekend? They spent 85% of the air time on Tger and Vijay in the final 9 holes. Fine, but why couldn't see live shots?
I know, it seems like someone is bound to complain about the coverage, but, I'm sorry, I couldn't resist this one.
Commercial after commercial, after commercial, and ABC couldn't show each's approach shots live? From swing's beginning to ball resting, what, 7-8 seconds? The viewers had to sit thru advertisements just to see them on tape, in split-screen format? My wife asked me "what's wrong with your head, you look like your watching a ping-pong match?" I said "no, just trying to watch 2 golf shots at the same time-- that already happened several minutes ago."
Here's an idea ABC, take the producer who's resonsible for this embarrassment, hang him upside-down naked, and let him watch hours of split-screen golf shots that are on tape delay- until he begs for mercy. Thanks for listening.
Yes the "While we were away" is pretty stupid, in addition to the dozens of commercials per half hour. I don't see the point in complaining now, ABC won't be covering much more golf and next year it will be on the golf channel, which has very few commercials.

Thanks for small favors. It seems as though since they know golf is not going to be renewed next year they are going to gauge us with commericals.
I kind of finding it interesting, but you're right, why not show them live.
I don't even care about showing them live. I don't mind when they say 'this just happened a minute ago...' Just don't give me the split screen! That was so annoying! How can I watch 2 golf balls in the air at once? Terrible.

Yeah, that was definitely annoying. The good thing (at least for Tiger fans) was that he seemed to hit fairways when they did the "While we were away" split-screen. LOL. Maybe that was why he played so well yesterday? Or maybe it was just a weird coincidence.

That, plus seeing them land in the fairway full of divots from the overhead, not knowing where they were in relation to each other, was kind of silly.
On the flip side, I will give ABC credit for having Andy North and Billy Ray Brown at the landing area, giving a preview of the approach shots the players faced. Andy North at times commented that Tiger had either a good lie, or a relatively easy shot. On CBS, EVERY shot that Tiger faces is impossible, and then after the shot, they say he is the ONLY player in the field who could have pulled it off. That is a bit unfair to Tiger and everyone else in the field.

I really like Billy Ray Brown. We saw him yesterday when we were sitting behind the 9th green. He was chatting with all of us for a while. You can always have a good chat with him when you catch him way up the fairway from the group he is following as he waits from them to walk to their ball. I decided yesterday that I REALLY want his job.

LOL, yeah CBS is typically full of you-know-what when it comes to Tiger. But I will say that they were probably right about that chip during the playoff where he short-sided himself at 18. That thing looked impossible to me but somehow he got it to stop within 5 feet.
i hated thatsplit screen stuff i wnated to see the ball flight but could not see it due to the act that it was not down the line and you only had a split second to see one hit then the other.

Not only was it annoying because of the 1) tape-delay after the dozen commercials immediately beforehand 2) watching 2 golf shots at the same time- 1-2 seconds apart (why couldn't they show one-then the other?) but yes, you're correct 3) I watched it on a 19 inch screen in my bedroom from 15 feet (bed to dresser) and had no idea where either ball was! I was watching the reaction of the players to gauge the quality of shot. How pathetic is this?
On a side note, why call it "while we were away"? It's equal to saying- these golf shots by the 2 leaders, both highly ranked in the World, on the 16th fairway, in the final round, take 15 seconds to show-together, but we still need a title to prove we are too irresponsible for live play. So, here's an annoying marketing tool to further aggravate our viewers .
Did I read that right? golf events will all be on the golf channel next year ? I don't get that channel I guess I will be practicing more then usual next year.
