why cant she just play in the LPGA, you dont see any guys going into the womens events. Im not a sexist or anything but jeez, why cant she just dominate in the LPGA, Nancy Lopez never did any pga events and look how famous she is. Personally i think shes doing this because this because he feels that the LPGA isnt enough of a challenge for her.

Michelle playing in the Ryder Cup, because it isn't against the rule.

I think the first time I heard of Nancy Lopez was when she came out and critised Michelle Wie. I hadn't heard of Nancy before, so she isn't that famous.

She can only play 8 lpga events per season, so if she didn't think it was enough of a challenge, why does she play the maximum events that she is allowed to.

One step at a time is right. However she was asked if she would like to play and if she thought it was possible.
She was hardly going to say, the ryder cup is rubbish, who would want to play that.

Let's not forget if you ask a 16 year old kid an earnest question, you will probably get and earnest answer. Jeez, you old geezers should lighten up and enjoy a child that can compete with adults. If you have a problem with it complain about the media and the sponsers, they are the ones responsible for the hype.

As regards qualifying like the big boys.

Following is a list of players who did not qualify for this tournament. Perhaps you would just like to clarify that you think they should all have to qualify too.
At least in the case of Michelle Wie and Sandy Lyle alot of people are likely to have heard of them.

22 players did not qualify in any way for the tournament.

Sponsors Exemptions:
Michelle WIE USA 0
Jann SCHMID SUI 0
Robin SWANE NED 0
Robert WIEDERKEHR SUI 0
Augustin DOMINGO ESP 0
Nathan FRITZ USA 0
Lee SLATTERY ENG 0
Mikko ILONEN FIN 0
Tino SCHUSTER GER 0
Edoardo MOLINARI ITA 0
André BOSSERT SUI 0
Per-Ulrik JOHANSSON SWE 0
Julien CLÉMENT SUI 0
Nicolas SULZER SUI 0
Marc FARRY FRA 0
Sandy LYLE SCO

Invited Amateur players
Ken BENZ (AM) SUI 0
Sandro TAN-PIAGET (AM) SUI 0
Steven ROJAS (AM) SUI 0
Marc DOBIAS (AM) SUI 0
Damian ULRICH (AM) SUI 0

Sandy Lyle is a poor example, since he's won the Masters, British Open, and other PGA and European events.

Johansson was a two-time Ryder Cupper. I don't know about that example either.

Nancy Lopez won about 48 events and helped make the LPGA more popular in 1978 with her great rookie perfomrance. She is a hll of fame player.

The more that this type of stuff makes press, the deeper my respect and appreciation grows for Annika.

I simply listed the 22 players that didn't do anything to qualify for the tournament.

You've named 2 that you think were probably deserving, how about the other 20 players that got free passes to the event?

Okay, I had heard of her, but all I knew was she had won stuff on the lpga tour when she was young 70 or 80 years ago.

When she spoke out against Michelle, I only found out exactly what she had won like in her rookie season and all that and more detailed info.

Actual question and answer of the Ryder Cup issue:

_______________________________
Question: You are part of a new breed of young women who are becoming increasingly competitive in golf - do you think there could ever be a time when women could qualify for the Ryder Cup?

Answer: Hopefully I will be able to do it one day, that would be awesome. I think it is totally possible. Anything is possible in the future. I think players, both women and men, are getting better and we are starting to get stronger and work out more and are mentally tough and we can do it.
______________________________

As you can probably tell from the actual question and answer, mr3856a hasn't exactly been balanced in the quotes he has given.

She was just asked a question on the Ryder Cup and said she hoped she could do it.
From the original post it was as if she just started boasting about how she was going to make the Ryder Cup.

Hopefully the actual question shows that she is just hoping she can do it and thinks that it is indeed possible.

Okay, then the article you quoted from wasn't balanced in the information it gave.
