IMO, if she became a full time PGA player, gained enough of points and qualify for the Ryder Cup team, then by all means, I have no problem with it. But that's just me.
I don't think anybody would have a problem with anyone actually earning their way onto the RC team, the PGA Tour, etc.

The Masters... Ryder Cup... Any Major at all... it will be very interesting to see
how well this young lady's game will turn out to be in, say 5-10 years from now.
All joking aside.. I think rodney_c has something here..
I mean, she is after all.. Nike owned! And whatever Nike wants, Nike gets!
That said.. she might just make the cut at any Major... make the team at a future
Ryder Cup event... and while we're at it... she may even win a "men's" PGA tournament!
She can only get better... much much better.
So "Believe the Hype!" The girl's got game.. Michelle is here to stay!
I will wait until she wins a couple of LPGA majors first.
The time is running out for her. If she doesn't win by Jan. 2008, I say the novelty dies...
ps... I think she makes the cut this weekend, and places in the top 20.
She may make the cut, but I doubt top 20.
Is that going out on a Swiss Alp ledge?? . . . . .
Now Rodney, I would have thought that Ms Wie could have come up with a more diplomatic answer than that. She has as much chance of playing in the Ryder Cup as Faldo or Norman have in winning another Open Championship !!!
That's where you are wrong. If she is good enough she can make it.
So far so good.
There's alot of progressing to do for it to become a reality though.

If she does that, you should run to the bookies and back her for that Ryder Cup place.
The course doesn't suit her, if she makes the cut, she will have done mighty well.

The only person that needs to give Michelle Wie a chance is Michelle Wie herself. The absolute best way for her to gain confidence and shut all the naysayers up is to do one thing -- WIN. Nothing else will do. She can talk about being the first female at Augusta, she can talk about winning an event on the men's tour, she can even have these fantasies about playing on the Ryder Cup someday. But until she WINS a professional tournament, she carries the same label as all the other women golfers who have not won a tournament -- Ofer.
I believe Michelle will one day play on the PGA TOUR. I predict she'll go through Q-School and earn an exemption. I also believe Michelle will be good enough to keep her TOUR card once she has earned it. But I seriously doubt she'll ever be a Ryder Cupper.
Why do you stress the word EARN a way into the team. Scott Verplank didn't earn his way in, he was well down the list.
If the Ryder Cup captain fancies her, she has a great chance.
What are the chances of a Ryder Cup captain fancying her when she is in her mid 20s? About 99.99% maybe.
It could be yet another Wie controversy. That girl makes news.
Lehman's picks WERE earned. He kept track of every American over the past two years to see how many times they were among the top 10 in American finishers. He chose the two players who did the best on his list. Therefore, even his picks EARNED their place on the team.
Also, a Ryder Cup captain might fancy having her on his team when she's in her 20's if he thought she was one of the top 12 American golfers. That's going to take some big improvements on her part. The Ryder Cup is not about ratings and making money, which is how Wie gets her exemptions right now. The Ryder Cup is about results and who can produce the best. Right now she's not even in the top 50 Americans, so it's somewhat of a moot point.
I don't doubt you'll disagree with that statement, but coming from someone who claimed to have never heard of Nancy Lopez...??? Just how long have you been a golfer and how long have you paid attention to professional golf? I know I date back to prehistoric times when dinosaurs roamed the earth (back in the 1970's), but I find it hard to believe an avid golf fan (and someone who keeps up so closely with the LPGA) would have never heard of Nancy Lopez. Have you heard of this other prehistoric lady...Annika Sorenstam? I know she's way older than 16, so maybe you've never heard of her before, either.
There seems to be a lot of testosterone flying around after the suggestion that the might of American golf could be represented by a teenage girl.
Let's be real, Wie was asked about the possibility of her participation in the Ryder Cup, and like all young people ,she believes anything is possible. That should never change, when our young people stop looking at their future with the belief that if they work hard they can do anything, we all end up as losers.
She did not say she should have been picked for the 2006 Ryder Cup or that she was making a window in her diary for the 2008.
If someone had asked Bernard LAnger when he was 16 ,do you think you will captain a Ryder cup team that will win 18 1/2 to 9 1/2 in uSA , he would have said yes , and everyone would have laughed at him.........especially as at that time , no German had ever played in the Ryder Cup.
It's amazing how much passion the subject of Wie raises.
Just think, at her age most teenagers wouldn't have the courage to stand before a camera let alone answer all sorts of questions.
She is a talented 16 year old who has her dreams and aspirations to become the best at her choosen field. Until she delivers they will remain just that, dreams. In the meantime give the girl a break.
