Michelle Wie, Ryder Cupper?

In the long term, Wie hopes to play in the Ryder Cup someday.

“That would be awesome,” she said. “But I think it’s totally possible. The players are getting better and stronger and starting to work out a lot more. I hope we can do it.”

thats ridiculous.

Apparently she had a practice round with Sergio at the Omega Masters course. She needs to learn to putt as well as Sergio.

I believe women should only be allowed to play men's events where they qualify fair and square.

isnt the omega a european major? i dont think she should just be able to play just because her sponser invited her to. She should have to qualify just like the big boys...

What do you mean by a major? The Open Championship is the only European major.

As regards qualifying like the big boys.

Do any of the other sponser's invites have some sort of conditional status or anything on the Euro Tour? Might be a tough quetstion to answer, but I'm curious. Maybe the Omega CEO's kid?

Alot of them are from Switzerland, which is a very good reason to invite them. It increases local interest in the field, and as you said it is all about money. So having local guys who people might know of helps bring out the fans.

Why Nathan Fritz of the Hooters Tour got an invite is a strange one. He has been missing cuts on the Hooters Tour so why get an invite to that event.

I predict Michelle will beat him, to be top American at the event.

And if as many people would tune in to see you play as tune in to see Michelle play, you'd probably have gotten one...You might not have even had to ask...Are you as cute as she is? (Testimony from wife or girlfriend doesn't count!!!)

I saw the thread had M. Wie and Ryder Cup in the same sentence. I let out a huge guffaw!

Jean Van de Velde thinks Michelle can make the Ryder Cup Team at some stage. That was his primary reason for protesting against women in mens events.

He said that he thinks the original ryder cup founders wouldn't have wanted women in the team.

What he probably didn't realise is the original ryder cup founders probably didn't want french men in the team, since they set it up as USA versus Great Britain and Ireland, it only changed later.

I think Nike needs to set up a Wie v. Van de Velde match play.

What's the over-under for the total number of putts between the two on the back nine? I'd say 40.

Ryder Cup and Michelle Wie .... who is she trying to kid. A great golfer on the horizon but lets take it one step at a time and gain a WIN on the LPGA. It is one thing to be ambitious but to make stupid outlandish comments like that makes me wonder.
