84 LUMBER Classic

GOLF

Sept. 14-17
84 LUMBER Classic

This PGA Tour event, held at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, Farmington, Pa., has a purse of $4.6 million, with the winner getting. $828,000. Last year, Jason Gore, fresh off the Nationwide Tour, won this event with a final round 2-under 70. He finished at 14-under 274, one shot ahead of Carlos Franco. Gore became the second player to win on the PGA and Nationwide Tours in the same season. For golf bettors, Gore will be back to defend his title. But the sportsbook favorite figures to be Vijay Singh, who should be the highest-ranked player in the field. Most of golf's top players likely will skip this event as they prepare for the Ryder Cup. Chris DiMarco also figures to have strong odds for this event. Lastly, Michelle Wie has committed to this tournament.
