Tigers STREAK is as follows?

Please you tell me. I would think its PGA tour events so this week would not count but in many articles i think you have people saying hes going for 6 straight. Im a bit confused so i ask you my friends to clear me up or give me your opinion. Is there 2 streaks alive? One for all events and then one for PGA tour sanctioned events? If he wins this week will we say 6. If he loses this week will we say no big deal its not a pga tour event? I guess im not getting a solid answer unless we are considering it 2 streaks. What is you opinion on how it should be?

The 84 Lumber Classic is a PGA TOUR event as far as I know. It's on the PGA Tour schedule.....

I think during the 1999 - 2000 season, when he had six game winning streak, he had a loss on a non-pga tourney (one of the asian or euro tour) but it didn't get counted against him because PGA only recognize it's tour's tourneys. So for PGA, it doesn't matter whether Tiger wins the World Match or not, the outcome doesn't have any bearing on PGA record.

Jimmi not sure what your point is but any streak would be in tourneys that player plays in and not consecutive tourneys because its not realistic for a player to play in all pga tour events. All players on tour take weeks off.

If he wins, it will be 6. If he doesn't, it will be 5 and the streak continues at the WGC. That's the way it goes with the media and Tiger.

Jungle J you say thats the way it goes with Tiger but im asking all of you what is the right way to treat this? We all want it to be the right way. I say there is 2 streaks alive. One where its any event he enters in a row and one where it can be compared to Nelsons and Hogans and Woods previous streak because i believe those are based on PGA TOUR EVENTS ALONE........i guess this is why im confused a bit..also take a look at the voting its all over the place. Thats why i have this thread to try and figure out a consensus.

Well, if he wins, there is no arguing that he has won 6 straight events, is there? So that's the way it will be played.

If he doesn't win, it will be billed as 5 consecutive strokeplay, or PGA Tour events, with the next in line at the WGC.

At the moment there is only one streak on the line, but if he loses another will be created. Make sense?

I believe jimmigan may be under the impression that Tiger is playing at the 84 Lumber this week. For anyone who's not certain what this thread is referencing, Tiger is playing in the HSBC Matchplay Championship this week at Wentworth.

BTW, I voted that this week is a continuance of the streak...if he loses, it's over. I know Tiger would consider it the same situation.

In as much as Tiger is attempting to win his sixth consecutive tournament the streak is on the line this week at Wentworth. But the PGA TOUR will not recognize this event and Tiger's TOUR streak waits until The Grove.
