Ryder Cup/Alternate shot/Ball Brand

EG: Tiger and Furek. Tiger Plays Nike and Jim a Srixion. Phil M a Callaway and D Toms a Titleist.

Do they have to pick a single brand and play it all 18 or can they pick on the odd and even holes. EG Tiger is teeing off first on all the odd holes, so tee off and play the hole with a Nike and Jim is the even holes so tee off and play the hole with a Srixon.

I have been trying to see the ball brands on the TV and it seems that Jim and Tiger are only using a Nike???

In the case of Jim and Tiger, Jim mentioned in his interview earlier this week that they both use high-spin golf balls so it was no big deal to switch to the Nike for him this week. Judging by their play, it might have been better if Tiger had switched to Srixon.

No, Sky coverage over here mentioned that TW and Furyk were using both brands. Apparently this was OK, and they were trying to work it so that the player who would play the shot into the green hit his own brand of ball.

That sounds fair!!! For this very special event there is no reason that players should not be able to use a ball they are used to. Sort of a local rule permitting the player hitting the second shot to use a ball he is used to.
