Darren Clarke

Looks like he could be the one who gets us to 14 points to retain the cup.
What a top man

A lot of guys could get that 14th point. Looks like it'll be Stenson, Donald or Clarke. One of those 3.

Although of course I never like to see my home country lose, I am so very happy for Darren. It obviously means so much to him emotionally.

Obviously team spirit is a huge part of Europe's success. Like Verplank said after today's round, the European team is a lot more loose and appear to have more fun. The US players have difficulty making the transition to play in a team like atmosphere from their intense competitive nature on the PGA Tour.

I think it has more to do with the world rankings. For some reason the Euros are not being given credit for being as good as they are.

I tend to agree with you. The world rankings have always flattered the USA team, because the biggest points are available on the PGA tour, and all the American players play on that tour. Europe's rankings are better than they used to be because more of their players now play more PGA events, but many are still under-rated because they mostly play in Europe. Just look at players like Karlsson and Stenson, and from the past Jiminez and Levet. Ask Tiger Woods about a journeyman like Costantino Rocca !

Well, because...umm...we don't have the best players in the world anymore.

A bunch of 12 individuals will not beat a 12 man TEAM.

Here in England, a few years ago in Soccer. The Irish team did better in the World Cup than England even though England had the better players.

Why?

Because the Irish were proud to wear the shirts and played for each other, the English were just expecting to do well with good players.

Ring any bells?
