Z. Johnson
C. Campbell

DiMarco or K. Stadler if Mickelson doesn't play
Is this Who do you THINK will make it or Who do you WANT to make it?
I am just confused by some of the players listed above. Are you guys saying that you think players like Jason Gore, Ryan Moore, Hunter Mahan, and Charles Howell III WILL make the team. Because that I would have to question.
I'll agree that it would be nice to see some younger guns in there but I am not sure that is the answer either. Other than Zach Johnson, the rookies didn't provide much, JJ Henry was decent I suppose. The Euros, for the most part, did it with seasoned Ryder Cup vets like Monty, Clarke, Lee Westwood, Sergio, Olazabel and Harrington.
Ignoring the top three, here are the winners on the US Tour this year. I have excluded the winners of events with weak fields due to clashes with bigger tournaments.
D Toms
C Campbell
JB Holmes
A Oberstererererer
C Couch
BWEtterich
T Herron
JMaggert
BCurtis
JJHenry
DWilson
C PAvin
None of these will make the Europeans quake in their boots. Palyers like Hair,Howell3 need to start winning big to build any reputation before 2008.
How are we supposed to retain our underdog tag against these guys?
Why exclude winners of clashing, weak field events
If you want to pick Rollins,MacKenzie and Kirk Triplett ,be my guest, I was trying to strengthen the team for you so we could have a more even contest.
The guys who won the tournaments in the year should be the ones who played the best golf. My list shows that there was nobody inspiring in that list. If you replaced Taylor and Wetterich with your best two players on that list ,would the result have been different?
The matches were not that close, in the ten matches that teed off down the 18th, USA got 4 1/2 points. If they had won the 7 matches halved , they still would have lost.
I agree with Tom Watson (see story), the RC points should be to the top 10 American golfers in each tourney, not just the ones who place in the top 10. I seriously doubt that would have made any difference in this latest mismatch, but at least it would be fairer to the players, and give the proper guys the chance to be humiliated.

all in all, no matter how the team is selected, until the Americans start dominating the tournaments here in this country, the result will continue to be lopsided in the Europeans behalf. the quality of golfers Internationally, with the exception of a few select, is better than the Americans.
I think we really need to consider reducing our purses by 30% or around what the European tour has for some reasons to develop our talent..
1. It won't be so easy to make a nice living without contending for wins.
2. It would give our players some incentive to go overseas with the shortened season, which I think is a good idea. That may help with some of the bonding and playing onother courses.
Here's the link, which convinces me that the tour needs to redo the way they do things.

Purses are so big that it really makes it easy to be complacent.
Don't see too many of the tour players chatting up the cart girl between shots or making calls on their handphones...these are serious players who have earned the right to compete for the top prize money...I see players scrapping for the relatively small Asian Tour purses on TV here week in and week out...they are just not as good as PGA players in length, accuracy or putting...when PGA players join the field they outclass the competiton (see the recent Singapore Open with Scott and Els in a playoff, the only two able to reach a par 5 in two all week, and they both did so easily)...
Pro golf is not about bonding, it is about making money...it is what they do for a living and the best money can be made on the PGA tour therefore attracting and maintaining the top in golf talent which is why I (and millions of others) enjoy watching PGA events over any other...

You may be right but as long as sposors and fans are willing to pay the price the payouts will be there. I think we have reached the upper end of payouts, however, which is indicative of why so many tournaments are losing sponsors.
