Samsung - lpga event

A tournament with 20 of the best womens players.

The contenders:

Annika Sorenstam - has won the event 5 times, including 3 of the last 4 stagings of it. Has had 3 wins in the season so far, but usually is very strong at this stage of the season. If she wins, she will be the first player to win an lpga event 6 times.

Lorena Ochoa - won last week, having a great season, probably disappointed with the majors, given that she won 4 other events, and had about 55 2nd places.

Karrie Webb - right back on form. Won a couple of weeks ago from Annika, before taking last week off. Another player of the year contender.

Cristie Kerr - had her biggest win recently, in the sense of beating Annika down the stretch. Having a good season, could break the course record, but will she put 4 good round together?

Michelle Wie - if she brings her early season form, she will contend for sure. Questionmarks over her recent form, although that was on much more difficult courses.

Paula Creamer - found it difficult to follow her great rookie year. Hasn't really contended for a title in 2006, so could be a long shot, although she did have a last round of -8 in last weeks tournament. Having too many poor rounds though, and would need to get more consistant to contend.

Other Players:
Juli Inkster, Stacy Prammanasudh, Mi Hyun Kim, Se Ri Pak, Hee-Won Han, Meena Lee, Pat Hurst, Sophie Gustafson, Seon-Hwa Lee, Natalie Gulbis, Laura Davies, Brittany Lincicome, Sherri Steinhauer.

Lots of talent there also.

That is 8 top 3 places, and obviously she would have contended for most of those titles.

In 2006, her best has been 2 3rd places, and one of those 3rd places was 6 shots off the lead. So it has been a big step down from a very impressive rookie year, and understanably so.

Also if you look through her round scores in the link you provided, she usually shoots at least one poor round per tournament.
Her last tournament 76 66 71 65 where she got 3rd place is a perfect example.

True she was never really in contention in either of her 3rd place(best) finishes this year, basically shooting lights-out on Sunday to creep into the top 5.

To be fair at the Jamie Farr she lipped a putt on the last that would have otten her into a playoff with Natalie Gulbis and the person that won the event

All hail Annika the queen of golf!

The woman just refuses to play bad golf for an extended period of time.

She's not only a great golfer, she's one of the best female atheletes in the world. Heck, she's one of the best athletes in the world PERIOD!

She just continues to crank out the good rounds. You have GOT TO admire her determination, hard work, and passion for the game.

Another great round for Annika and Lorena.

Guess we should take Wie off the list, since it appears she can't even break even.

Whats the TV Channel playing at, interviewing the winner BEFORE she leaves the 18th green. Especially after NG's DQ for not signing her card.
Lorena had won but it was not yet official, let her go do the signing and posting bit first.

By the way, Ochoa deserves the player of the year award if anyone does. She must have the best record this year of anyone. I haven't checked the exact numbers, but it always seems like she's in contention, and this is what, her 5th win?!

In my opinion, she should win the Rolex Player of the Year, the Vare Trophy and the ADT Official Money List title.

.. and before she shook hands (or embraced ) with Annika. First the friends rushed on the green and then the idiot from the TV channel rushed to get the interview as if a couple of minutes would have made all the difference.
