Lorena Ochoa clinches LPGA 2006 POY and 6th tournament in 2006 with a 10 stroke victory.
Next year could be very interesting!
The only thing I saw from the event was that Creamer was leading after the first round...quite a turn from there. Lorena certainly had a fabulous year and has made a great case to become the Number 1 golfer really soon...if she isn't in the eyes of most already.

In the 2nd round, Lorena opened with a quad bogey to go way behind Creamer, but Creamer stumbled her way to a 74 after opening with 64. Lorena's game went from stength to strength and she caught Creamer and then pulled away from the field.
On the number 1 issue, Lorena could do with a major to bolster opinion to be called the best player, although she could of course become number 1 ranked without winning a major.
Ochoa had a great year and deserves the Player of the Year Award. Ochoa still has a way to go before she can claim the title of the best female player in the world. Annika still has something to say about that.
Lorena will be #1 by this time next year. Annika will be saying congratulations.
Lorena has won 3 in a row. Should she get a battlefield promotion to the pga tour?
I just read that she said she still has a lot of thing to do to get better. I think once you run out of ways to improve, she could take a shot on the Tour to learn more, but not while she still knows what she needs to work on. Her current goal seems to be the #1 female golfer.

I think she will want to win majors first, but she will probably try mens events at some stage.

She's fairly long. She'll probably give it a shot someday. Mexico does have it's own National Open that some of the PGA guys play. It would be cool to see her give it a try.

That is very interesting, and it would be really good if she played in it. She could also try an Asian or Japanese Tour event.
Lorena probably wouldn't be that strong out of the rough, but she could probably stay out of the rough on most holes, because she has been pretty accurate.
7 Iron
Mickelson 175 yards
Harrington 175 yards
Ogilvy 170 yards
Furyk 170 yards
Wie 165 yards
Ochoa 149 yards.
Lorena hits her 5 iron about 170 yards, so she would be using that while many pga players could take a 7 iron from the same distance. Add to that Lorena would probably not drive it as far, so how many clubs more would she be taking?
WD and DQ are something that Wie is already familiar with in her young professional career.
When I think "compete with the men," I think PGA Tour . Wie would no doubt compete very well with the men in my golf league but that's not what we're talking about here. Competing in US Open Sectional Qualifying is light years from competing on the PGA Tour. I think Wie realizes that, but if she doesn't........she should.
Many experienced pga players said that it would be tougher to get out of that Sectional, than to make a normal pga tour cut. Do they know what they are talking about?
