Ochoa captures her 1st major with a wire-to-wire victory at the Women's British Open at St. Andrews.
This is her 4th win this season. Her lead in the 2007 money list is enormous, and her lead in the world rankings is starting to grow to 'Tigeresque' proportions!
No doubt, Ochoa is the best player in the world today. Don't count Annika out though. Remember, she is coming off of back surgery. I still think Ochoa will be the dominant figure in women's golf for a while, but Annika isn't done yet. The women's game has so much young talent that it will be interesting to see what happens the next few years.
Just a point of information, the two ruptured disc were in her neck, and she was treated by physical therapy, not surgery.
Thanks for the clarification. I must have misunderstood the commentators this weekend. Still, nothing to sneeze at. Let's see what she does when she returns to 100% health. I'm actually looking forward to some competition at the top of the women's game. I think Ochoa and Pressel are poised to give Annika the rival she has been lacking for the last few years.
2nd place for Lorena Ochoa this weekend, losing out in a playoff to Suzann Petterson. Nonetheless, Ochoa becomes the first female golfer to surpass $3M in prize money during a single year.
