Els at the Chrysler.

Anyone else see the shot the Big easy hit on Sunday ?
Driver off the fairway - par 5 second shot - 270 yards to pin, not sure what hole - to about 10 feet.
Nice one Ernie !!!

10-feet? It was more like 3-feet! An incredible shot!

By comparison, his playing partner had laid up, hit a wedge for his 3rd to no closer than 20-feet. 2-putt par. While Els hit driver, driver to 3-feet for an eagle!

I was watching in amazement as he hit that shot off the deck, and then a couple of nice irons, then a wedge almost fell in out of the sand! Wow! Then he hit a tee shot in the woods!

I thought it was great to see Ernie at the computer at the end of his round. He was going through all of the scenarios to see if he would make the Tour Championship. Seeing that made me even more disappointed in Tiger and Phil for choosing not to play.

I watched his roiund and being a fellow south african im a big fan. He didnt play very well that day, but wow did he hit some jems, one out of the bunker just skimmed the hole, next hole from 120 yards just skimmed the hole, and yes that amazing 270 yard shot into the wind, for such an average round for him, i was ery impressed with some of those shots

The best part of his round was in the booth where he said he has been working hard and intends to pick up his practicing and fitness to try to catch Tiger. I was glad to hear that b/c he truly is one of the premier players. I think a lot of people were worried we'd seen the best of him as he had pulled a permanent Phil-after-the-majors-Mickelson and basically cashed out...
I can't quote the #, but can you imagine how many majors he would have won sans Tiger??? Didn't he finish 2nd to him in 2000 in all 3 majors Tiger won? It would be great to see them go head to head frequently. Maybe some more events like Hawaii a few years back where they both put on a heckuva show before Tiger won in sudden death

He tied for second in the 2000 US Open and Open Championship.
