Ryder Cup Cpt Azinger bad mouths Woods

The words hung in the air, an early warning shot from newly appointed U.S. Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger to Tiger Woods: "He's not going to be a natural-born leader of 12 guys."

That's what I read on ESPN Golf just now.

Azinger is not going to build team spirit by tearing down one of members of the team. It's a good thing Tiger can keep his temper in check off the course, because if i was him i'd be tempted to tell Azinger that he can play without me.

I saw that one part of Azinger's comments over and over again yesterday on sportscenter. I dunno what he said before or after the "Tiger's no leader" comment, but I did hear him say that because Tiger was interested in his own records and stats, and didn't like sharing little secrets on the course, that he wasn't as much of a leader as others. I don't have a transcript, so that's not a quote, but that is what I got from Azinger's comment. Truth is, he was probably led into that question, and then ESPN tried to blow it up, and make it a big scandal. I hate the media, and the way they try to make controversy. I honestly thing that Zinger is a quality guy, and don't see him making attacks on someone he respects like Tiger. All ESPN analysts could talk about before the Ryder was how Tiger wasn't a team player, and then they try and villianize Zinger for essentially saying the same thing. JMO

I'm not sure what he means.

You may not be sure what he means, but you can probably agree it aint positive nor helpful to building team spirit.

Maybe he is trying to establish himself as the leader.

To build Team Spirit, you must first have teams players... and Eldrick is not a team player.

That is Not an opinion... that is a fact.

I also think Mickelson is not a team player. That is an opinion.

Isn't it the job of the team captain to be the one who leads the team. Last time I checked, Tiger wasn't the captain of the 2008 Ryder Cup team, so expecting him to be the leader of anything is way out of line in my book.

I'm waiting to hear the reasons for this "fact" as well.

Guess I should have my "facts" covered before I open my trap.
Give me some time to find the article. It was a few weeks back...

Heck, it was probably a media fueled article anyway. So lets forget it, k?

Rip the veins from my heart..............

Ryder Cup Captains are soooooo overrated. It's not that hard of a job. These guys are so easily baited into making a stupid comment that the media will feast on like vultures. Why do they even need to make a statement about something that is about an event that is 2 years away? These captains seem to be way too self important about this position, always trying to outdo the previous captain. Maybe if they stop taking themselves so seriously and take the team out for beers instead being such a disciplinarian, maybe we can win.

Why stop discussing this now??...Why?? Good subject til the next Ryder Cup!! Don't have anything else to talk about since the elections are over with anyway. Get down and dirty...get down in the mud!!!
IMO..Zinger is to much of a class act to say that to the media.
Besides Tiger ain't going to have time, since he's going to be to busy building golf courses..

Maybe Tiger can design a course they can substitute for Valhalla before the next Ryder Cup so that we might actually have a chance.

Why are the Americans tearing one another apart so early?

The last two losses have been against a better team. All the excuses are invalid. You were out golfed,it was not tiger's fault , it was not the captain's fault.

You need better golfers, you need to pick the strongest team - which the new system seems to ensure - and you need acaptain that adds 5% to the team as Lehman did , not take away 5 % the way Sutton did.

The 2006 European team was stronger than the 2004 team and the 2006 American team was weaker than the 2004 team ,so getting the same result was progress ,mainly due to the captain.

Tiger represents 1/12th of the team ,stop trying to extract 14 1/2 points from one player.

Well ok, tiger isnt the captain, but i dotn think he needs critisism, from the captain saying how hes not a team player. Tiger tries just as hard in the ryder cup.
