This quest to make the cut on the men's tour is really embarrassing.
At the John Deere Classic she withdrew because of heat exhaustion after playing 27 holes and 8 over par. (Heat exhaustion? Have you heard of a male player suffering from this.)
At the European Masters she finished dead last (78-79) without making the cut.
At the Lumber Classic she also came in dead last (77-81).
These poor results are a clear testament to the fact that she cannot compete on the men's tour whether it is the PGA, Asian tour or European.
My prediction is that at the Casio, it wont be any better.
She should really concentrate on the LPGA, where she has placed well, though it should be noted that she is winless in 33 appearances (the last nine of which were as a professional.)
She's playing on a sponsor's exemption. It's all about increasing ticket sales. On the Nike website, there's a video of a few staff golfers who discuss her playing with the boys. I'll say it again, it's all about selling tickets. I thought it was cool when she started, but when I saw the link on Yahoo sports, I didn't even bother to click it, and I'm pretty bored at work right now.
Why does she get to play in all these mens events when there are woman who, are playing better than her.
It's all about money. A tournament will grant her an exemption to play a course she would not otherwise qualify for because she will sell lots of tickets to golf fans on the Thursday and Friday rounds, which would otherwise be lower. TV broadcasts may have better ratings too if those rounds are televised.
Wie also has endorsement agreements with Sony and others and one of the conditions of the agreement is to play in the sponsors tournament in exchange for $$$.
Its all about the bucks.
Her management team are also under the bizarre misapprehension that the media exposure is good. Somebody should remind them that not all media exposure is good. For a case study, see "Tom Cruise"

...or more recently Michael Richards, aka Kramer from Seinfeld.
First I am Rodney_C's brother, house sitting while he is away on business.
I have a question. How is it you can report from the Casio and he isn't.
He can email me from there with his phone thingy but how would you access a website. Oh, maybe you mean update after the round. If that's it, I can post his updates as well.
He did tell me that she was using a new Nike driver in practice and he was pretty excited about it. I don't know the name I'm not that into golf as he is, but he was saying it was cutting edge and she looked good in practice.
.... okay I wrote it down, it was Nike Sasquatch Sumo 2 driver.
He also says she is swinging it really well, but he didn't get to watch much practice as he was with another player.
These poor results are a clear testament to the fact that she cannot compete on the men's tour whether it is the PGA, Asian tour or European.
She definetely made a cut on the Asian Tour, that is for sure and she finished in the top half as well, so how can you say she cannot compete. Maybe she missed some other Asian Tour cuts I'm not sure, but if she made the last one didn't she show she can compete.
Okay I get it. This is a very negative forum.
I don't really care that much one way or the other but why are people complaining so much. They say she shouldn't compete on the pga tour, and then when she plays somewhere else, they actually go out of their way to look up how she is doing.
If she is playing in Japan it hardly affects you. It isn't even on American Television. If she is playing on a tour so far away why do you care. You protest too much. You are going out of your way to talk about her.
One guy even says he is there, and he is bashing her most. Why are you at that tournament if you don't like her? Perhaps you are there to watch Shinichi Akiba instead.
Anyway, if Rodney is interested in this forum that's his business. From what I've read there are alot of people who just like to complain for the sake of it. I'll post Rodney's updates if he emails, but this forum is very negative, so it is.

Judging a whole forum based on just a few ignorant posts in one thread is hardly fair play. If you ask rodney_c about it I'm sure he'll agree that overall this is a great forum full of members who prefer to come and discuss the good things happening in the world of golf. Of course there will always be those who prefer the negative side, and allow personal jealousies or biases to affect their opinions. Most of us have learned long ago that trying to change (or at least open) some people's minds on certain subjects is futile, so we rarely respond to such threads.
I suggest you read a few other sections of the forum before you paint us all with a large negative brush.
I agree with the money comment. (my post is not inspired by jealousy) She made $30 million this year at 16 years of age. Doesn't her Nike contract require some of her appearances in these men's tounaments?

Very true. Sorry I overreacted. I just opened up a thread and they were bashing her for playing in a tournament so far away. I was wondering if they would be bashing her if she were playing a mens tournament in Outer Mongolia. It was just the nature of the first couple of posts that were a bit petty. Sorry for overreacting and I was wrong to judge a whole forum based on just a few opinions.
By the way, someone asked if a man ever withdrew from a tournament because of heat exhausion. That was the most ignorant comment in it. Sorry but I would like to use some bad language against that comment.
Instead, I'll say I remember Lee Westwood withdrawing for that very reason and he had to get injected with nutrients at the hospital as well.
I think she just had to go to hospital as a state regulation. She didn't have to have any extra nutrients injected due to her condition in that tournament.
So is Lee Westwood less strong then her?
Again it was just an ignorant comment.
