He also said he would play the next Open Championship. He's been making statements implying he is returning to competition form.
He really should consider the Champion's TOur.
i heard he was considering joining and being a full time member of the senior's tour (although with Ballesteros, id expect to see him only the minimum amount of times per year). he would be great to see at a full playing level again, instead of the odd couple of times on the European tour (he knows he isn't competitive at that level anymore, especially being out of practice due to various reasons over the last few years). he will play these Major's but only because he is allowed.
I hope he plays well. I would LOVE to see him support the Champion's Tour.
That would really give The Champion's Tour a much needed shot in the arm, but only if he were competitive and from what I've heard his game is still hurting.

As I have said in various threads here, this year could be a great year for them if eligible players would support them.
It`s painful to watch Seve hack, prod, hook and slice his way round the course thesedays, but he was `the man`.....years ago, a trailblazer for the European Tour, and the player I always went to Sunningdale and Wentworth to watch some 20 or so years ago!
He had the most amazing short game, and could play shots that today would leave Mickelson baffled.....and all this before the arrival of the 64 degree lob wedge!
He may not have the record of Tiger, but certainly had lots more panache imo!
I've heard so much about his game and on the spot shot making (off his knees, intentionally running a ball through a sandtrap and ending up a few feet from the hole). I wish I could actually see some of this on video or online.

Most certainly mate, he was the man.
the imagination of his Short and Long game, has been unrivalled.
whenever he teed it up, something was going to happen and everyone knew it too. was sometimes a great pleasure to see him in trouble just to see how he was going to get out of it. he had the whole package, a big heart, flair, charisma, and most importantly the Skills to win consistantly at the highest level. the only person who sometimes reminds me of Seve is Sergio Garcia, but he is a long way off from being considered even half as good as the great one.
The article that I saw indicated that his playing ithose two majors was a mini warm up for going into the Champion Tour later. It would be good to see him playing well again.
The Champions Tour could really use a Seve in contention on a regular basis. I hope he plays well in his major forays and helps invigorate the lifeless senior bunch when he shows up there.
I remember Seve way back...must have been in the late 70's or early 80's?, but one tournament in particular.
His approach shot landed left and toward the back side of the green, but unfortunately within 1-2 feet in front of a man-made rock wall (fairly flat surface) behind the green. He didn't have room for a backswing, so he turned the opposite way, with his back to the green facing the rock wall and hit the ball into the wall and played the ricochet shot that ended up on the green!!
On another green, that was a double humpback swale...his ball was 2 humps removed from the flag. Instead of putting, that was the first (and last?) time I ever saw anyone chip from well on the green to the flag. Brilliant shot actually. I remember the announcer saying the groundscrew would not be happy if he made a divot in the green...which he didn't.
I think that type of shot making (much like the Phil go for broke) attracted fans, but wasn't good for long-term survival on PGA.

The Champions Tour is looking good again. There are a bunch of big names now eligible to play there - I hope Seve joins them on a regualr basis - how old is Seve anyway? He's been eligible for a few years now hasn't he?
I remember 'ole Seve was a whole lot of fun to watch eventhough I routed against him. He was famous for his "gamesmanship" in match play events - particularly the Ryder Cup.

It's been so long since he's done anything that it just seems like he should be older, but he doesn't turn 50 until April 2007. The Champions Tour would be looking good again, if the guys who will be eligible would play regularly. I hope they do. My interest in the Champions Tour has waned over the past few years. It's vying with the Nationwide Tour for my attention these days, well behind the PGA, Euros & LPGA and just ahead of The Big Break. They really need some names on the leaderboard week in and week out.

Seve was most definitely a player to watch, his shot-making was something to behold.......... but, he was always 'cavalier' and was described by the media of the day as 'swash-buckling', he still prodded, hacked, hooked & sliced the ball around the course all those years ago....the only difference in his game nowadays is that he no longer has the recovery shots in his bag that he had back then. The only time I have seen a pro in a tournament, putt out of a bunker.
Even now, I still call upon the golfing gods for some 'Seve magic' when faced with a tough shot.
