did he take a 9 or 11 today at 17, at the time i was watching it came up as a 9 but on the European tour website they have it as an 11. i had to go out afterwards and didnt see if they corrected anything or whatever, so what did that par 5 cost him in the end?
Edit - just read through the article and he dropped his ball 2 club lengths and the ball rolled back a tiny bit (still within the 2 club lengths) and he picked up and re dropped, costing him 2 penalty strokes.

They actually corrected the score to an 11 on the 17th hole. This was discussed during the Target World Challenge telecast. Talk about a killer hole. Goosen was in position to go for a course record. It just goes to show how just one bad shot can affect a round.
It will be interesting to see how Retief comes back and plays tomorrow.
He hit two into unplayable lies ,took a drop, redropped when it was in play ,getting another two shot penalty. Some dumb golf.
Today he eagled the same hole, so he has had an 8 shot swing on the hole in less than 24 hours
Considering his debacle on the 17th Thursday, he's made quite a comeback to still be in contention after round 2. But one can't help wonder if anybody can give away that many strokes on one hole and come back and win a golf tournament?

I never imagined anyone could card an 11 and still shoot 69! Just goes to show that nobody is immune to brain lapses, even Tiger I reckon, although, in his case, probably less likely.
Well, Goosen has managed to stay in it, albeit six strokes back...Immelman is really on form and living up to his POY status in SA and ROY in the States. He just has a great setup and great form...I predict he will be a force to be reckoned with in the '07 season (and probably beyond).
