FWIW: The superchip at the Masters wasn't even among the top 10!
Once in a lifetime, maybe longer...
I believe that show was his 10 greatest shots NOT in majors. And, I don't think that one they were showing last week was all that new. That show was probably at least 2 years old, if not 3.
I remember seeing the #1 shot (Canadian Open) live. I remember the announcer saying 210 yards, 6 iron and then the other announcer groan in astonishment. But for some reason I just had a feeling he would pull it off.
I also remember an interview with Earl Woods where he predicted that Tiger would hit a memorable shot in every tournament in which he plays. Over the years I have watched him, I would say that statement isn't too far off.
I too remember watching it live, and I just couldn't believe it. I wasn't into golf as much back then, so I didn't understand quite as much how great of a shot it was. And like others have stated, it was top 10 not including majors.
I will never forget the Masters chip-in on 16, because of the reaction where I was. I was forced out of my Augusta home to go to a wedding shower weekend in Atlanta on Masters weekend. On Sunday at my in-laws, I was watching the tournament peacefully - a small crowd of 5 adults. When Tiger hit behind the green, I told them (not very knowledgeable) who thought Tiger was dead that Davis Love had chipped in from a similar situation a few years before, that most any shot thrown up that slope would settle back near the hole. When the shot toppled into the hole, 5 adults exploded outta their seats, standing and yelling - and in the middle of the din was my little Maltese (see avatar) barking his head off like he thought it was an awesome shot, too.
^^ good call man, that shot was truely amazing over water though out of bunker, i have to rip a 6 to hit it 216, and out of a bunker, most i could hit a 6 is 180, he wasnt human
Of non-major ones...the 4 iron at Torrey Pines in 2003, from the rough, punched to keep it under a tree, to a tucked pin tight over a trap, landing it on the green and keeping it within 15 feet of the hole sticks out to me. The Canadian Open was more impressive due to the circumstances, but I think the degree of difficulty on that one was slightly lower (the fact that he hit 6 iron so far is what I think made that shot). JMO
Agreed. I'd have to really rip a 6 iron and hope it flies 218 on a perfect day, probably with some wind to help also. To even try that out of a fairway bunker, over water, no way.

you are such a powerhouse
Out of that bunker, i would have to aim left, hit my 2 iron hybrid, and hope!
