Angles on TV

Is it just me or does the shot trajectory look very offline on TV? I just saw Vijay hit a shot that looked, on TV anyways, about 50 degrees off the target line to the right. And i thought Vijay was a fade hitter...

I dunno...maybe the 40 yard shank to backspinning 180 yard shot is a pro specialty?

I thought they had some great camera positions during the first round of coverage. Some of the tee shots would like they were coming straight for the camera!

Its an optical illusion because of the lens of the camera...they are not flat but curved, like a magnify glass, so it will show it going off to the right for right handers.

That sounds good to me. All I know is that it's always been like that.

IF... they would set up the camera for far-away shots, you wouldn't see the "fisheye" effect as much. However, we like to follow the ball so they always zoom in on the player as tight as possible.

That, and the fact that the cameraman generally stands somewhat to the right of the golfer when behind him/her. That makes the trajectory also appear on the right side of the tv screen. And, as we all know, it's poor etiquette to stand directly behind a player when they are attemting their shot.

I have a friend who says, "He pushed it!" every time he sees a shot like that on TV.

You think he would learn.....
