LOL! I just saw that nintendo comercial for the wii and thought of this thread. There should be a PGA commercial that shows a sad michelle and then says, "Wie would like to play..." hahaha!
It's nice that she got to play with her pal Davis Love, one of her many pga player friends.
She played with defending champ David Toms (pictured ) without much fanfare.
Quote:
No more than 15 people followed Wie during a practice round Tuesday when she played with defending champion David Toms. During a 25-minute interview with Davis Love III on Wednesday, no one brought up Wie once.
"It's not a one-shot deal like it was with Annika," Love later said, referring to Sorenstam playing the Colonial in 2003. "We all know her now. I went up and said hello to her like she was another player."
He hit the closest shot in the playoff, but she got them there.
Thanks for the info rodney. And welcome back to you too.
Hopefully MW's wrist problem won't wreck her attempt to make the cut.
If she's going to miss/make it, it would be good for her to do it at full strength.
Wie is playing with Gavin Coles and Stephen Marino. Unless she is duck-hooking her drives into the woods again, it looks like Coles is going to be the first one to play his second shots (no disrespect for the Aussie, his short game is fantastic ).
I had a look at the Sony Open field. Some of the golfers I enjoy watching are Geoff Ogilvy, Vijay Singh and J.B. Holmes. I sure hope they will make the cut!
Does that sentence make sense to anyone? To me it doesn't, because what I am really hoping for is that they will be in contention for the title on Sunday, so that I will get to see them play.
I am appalled that 'making the cut' seems to be the standard for success by which Michelle Wie's performance appears to be judged. I propose that we, at Golf Rewind, start asking the following, more relevant question: Will MW crack the top 10 this week at the Sony Open?
thank god rodney, no excuses now, so if she does actually finish last you'll realize it, i wish her the best though, 17 years old i wasnt near tour-level, still cant keep it like she can
Michelle Wie, pictured in 2006, would be better served playing competitive golf against LPGA players, rather than finishing close to the bottom in men's tournaments, says PGA veteran Luke Donald.
Quote Luke Donald:

we know what luke thinks now
Since you quoted Luke Donald, perhaps it would be interesting to quote David Toms, who actually played with her, so he knows much more than Luke Donald does about her game.
David Toms:
Q. You played with Michelle the other day, I understand that you were talking to her about her game and some of the shots you thought would help her?
DAVID TOMS: Well, I mean, I was very impressed with her game, her ability. She plays a lot like a male player in that she creates a lot of speed through the ball. Not only with her long shots, but around the greens and so forth. She can hit all the different shots.
I just felt like at times maybe she was overswinging, trying to hit a draw for extra distance. She could probably tell after playing nine holes with me that she has adequate distance to play out here at a high level. She can't overpower our game like she does on the ladies tour, so she has to play a different game, more of an accuracy type of game. I think once she learns that, she'll do fine.
