Maybe , maybe not. But I'm pretty sure that Jack was talking about beginners.

She certainly generates interest.
In another general golf forum, ther is a poll on how she will do at the Sony.
There is 271 votes so far.
155 think she will make the cut,
72 think she won't make the cut,
27 think she will win it, ha ha!
16 think she will withdraw before 2 rounds played.

It is interesting that so many people think she would make the cut. Poor performances obviously haven't shaken their confidence.
I reckon after 9 holes it should probably be obvious how she will do.

Blind faith.

Wow! Already a six page thread and the Sony hasn't even started yet! I was away from the computer since yesterday morning, and was quite surprised at the growth of this thread - there have even been some constructive comments!

I hope MW's wrist doesn't bother her, and that she plays well. I'm more looking forward to her LPGA events this year than her PGA ones, as I think she'll win at least once, maybe even a major.

Don't worry, that'll pass once they tee it up.

not a great start, 181yd drive (i guess it was a drive, as its a long par 4 at 480yds) to the rough. and saved par with an 8 footer, this game doesn't make sense sometimes.
i guess ill quit posting for an hour or so, while im on a low.
sounds like a great par though if the PGATOUR.COM is correct, so now it turns itself into a good start, but that drive should be worrying her, with all the issues she has had with that club recently.

London geeza,
It does say that she only drove it 181 yards.
But what about the 2nd shot.
From the primary rough she hit it 289 yards. What club did she use and what kind of strength was required for that?
Anyway, she still had 35 yards, so she got up and down well.

It is also pleasing that she made the 8 foot putt for par.

Also, hole 1 is really difficult. For the previous 6 rounds of the Sony, she had 4 bogeys and just 2 pars on it.
Par, good start.

Whether MW finishes over/under/even... I'd rather be doing what these
guys/gal are doing than being stuck in this office on a clear winter day!

Yeah, 289 left and an 8-footer for par, it sounds like an up & down to me.

To summarise:
She hit a really short drive. Knocked it 289 yards from rough to fairway, alledgedly.
Then she had about 38 yards left. She hit that to 8 feet and knocked it in for par.

She saved that. At least she has putted well so far.
She could do with some good tee shots though.

"Allegedly" being the key word here....

Short-sided herself into a bunker on 4. Looks like a tough up-and-down. 1 feet 2 inches from the hole, not bad.

Geez I hope she settles down soon or this could get ugly. Her play sounds like mine so far... except for the putts she's dropped.
